Got another video for everyone. This I shot for the local paper for their website:

It's the 2014 Fall Foliage Hay Festival in Killington, VT. I tried to shoot during peak foliage in order to really capture the colors. All of it was shot in 2.5K RAW mode on the Blackmagic Cinema Camera. I used the Tokina 11-16mm and the Rokinons 24, 35, 50, and 85. I used a Linear Polarizer, and a Tiffen ND 0.6 on some shots. All of it was graded in DaVinci Resolve.

My only complaint is the tripod head. It doesn't really support the weight of the camera fully built with matte box, follow focus, EFV, and battery. I was at full drag, and it wasn't satisfying to me. I'm using the money I get from the video to replace the head with one that is better suited. It was a Manfrotto head, and I've never liked Manfrotto. Always been a Sachtler guy. I'm going to replace the head with the Benro H8.

Enjoy the video!

Tim, have you considered the OConnor 1030D? Seems ideal for the URSA rigged.

Sadly out of my price range currently. I am an OConnor fan, as I used one with the ARRI SRII back in college. When I can get an URSA I'll get the appropriate tripod for it. That's a distance away, so I can rent one otherwise in the meantime and an appropriate tripod with it.

Hi fellas! Last month I shot a film for Turkish Airlines with my friend director Abdulbaki Yavuz. We used a pocket cam with vintage Zeiss Super Speeds for super 16. Occasionally we used a monopod with a video head on it to get some steady shots but it was mostly handheld.

Here is the film:

Tupelo - Yesterday's News

My first shoot with my new Production Cam, shot in 1080p ProRes LT 30fps conformed down to 25fps for a subtle slow-motion effect. Except for the street scenes I shot at 25 because the flicker was too much. I think I got away with it in the shop and the pub though. Those locations were originally going to be different and I was going to light them but time was running out and we had to go to the nearest place and use available light.

Question: Can anybody share their experiences of shooting at 25 and slowing it down, how well does it work? I never used to be asked to do slow motion when I was shooting on a DSLR but now I have the bmpc of course everyone wants it!

A new short doc athlete profile video I just finished with a BMPCC. Shot mostly in Film mode Prores 422 with some HQ as well. Edited and finished in FCP X.

Question: Can anybody share their experiences of shooting at 25 and slowing it down, how well does it work? I never used to be asked to do slow motion when I was shooting on a DSLR but now I have the bmpc of course everyone wants it!

Stephen, at around 59 seconds into the video above I performed some subtle slow motion. My project was 23.976 fps so I shot the shot at 30p with a narrow shutter angle then conformed that file to the 23.976p timeline. This gave me subtle slow motion as a starting point. I then used optical flow and slowed the clip down by another 10-15 percent.

This doesn't give true slow motion, but can be useful depending on the shot. It would be nice if we could have 60p or more, particularly given the new Hero4 camera can do 2.7k at 48fps and 1080 at 120fps.

I have the Benro S8 with AL sticks, and Benro H10 with CF sticks, if you had any questions on them.
My BMCC fully rigged pushes the H10 over its maximum weight.
I went with less expensive tripods to start but will definitely be looking at a Sachtler, OConnor, or Vinten after I finish with all of the slider and jib component purchases.

Shot with 2.5K Cinema Camera in ProRes LT and VIDEO mode for dynamic range. Thought I'd share since some people may want to know what the VIDEO dynamic range looks like. Shot this way for fast turnaround for client. Still ended up grading it in Resolve and applying a LUT and film grain. As well upped saturation and added blur in order to simulate a 16mm Color Reversal look.

Like planes and rockets?

(Video isn’t ready to show yet, but below I've linked to a few 3840 x 2160 frames grabbed from the 4K “ProRes 422″ Film mode 24p video.)

This past weekend I visited the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum ...
http://evergreenmuseum.org/

... home of Howard Hughes’ Spruce Goose ...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hughes_H-4_Hercules

... and many other flying machines. I shot home movies with my BMPC-4K camera. Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 zoom lens & Hoya IR cut/UV cut filter. Shot handheld without a rig or tripod because the museum doesn’t allow it without prior arrangement. I did basic color correction on these frames using Mac Preview and compressed them to JPEG @ 50% for display here.

There was something great to shoot anywhere I pointed my camera!

Great shots Peter! This has got to be the "cleanest and brightest" aircraft hanger I have ever seen! Beats the cold, dim lit and often "grimly" hangers I had to shoot in. The cleanest, was a "spruced up" space on San Diego's North Island, where I shot the Apollo re-entry modules during their de-fueling. This hanger got a quick paint job on the area being used, dividers w displays set up to separate from rest of the hanger.

Hey everyone,

I finally got around to putting an Intro Clip (extract) from my new short drama "Elision" up on Vimeo. It was shot in collaboration with Joe Mania using two BMCCs and one BMPCC, edited in Premiere, and graded in Resolve:

If you are interested in watching the entire short film (15 mins), message or eMail me and I can send you a private link.

Recently got my BMPC so i havent been using it that much yet. However, after a few testshots im amazed what potential the camera has, considering the price.

Here is a smalltest video i recorded the other day when my father was working. I though i should share this clip since i myself think it shows what potential the camera has. I have been using many different DSLR cameras, but never ended up with a image as cinematic looking as the BMPC.

I used a very cheap 50mm lens i borrowed from a friend, still the image looks awesome IMO. Graded in Resolve with Kodak LUT.

Here's my first shot for a music video class, Using the Production camera. I'm still learning, but I think it looks decent for a first video.

I used a Canon 28mm 2.8 and a 50mm 1.4 vintage Chinon from 1975 (found out it has a green tint to it which was very difficult to reduce in post). A layer of 35mm coarse gorilla grain was added for a film look. Everything was edited and graded in Premiere Pro 6. I have Da Vinci Resolve, however it's a pain to use on my macbook with the screen scaling and workflow. Also found out the hard way that the BMPC doesn't do well with lifted shadows like the BMCC.

The music as well was made for the project.

Like trains?

Here's a short clip of a steam locomotive I shot in 4K with my BMPC-4K. The zoom & pan was done in FCP:

I used 2 microphones and a MixPre to record stereo audio into my BMPC-4K. The zoom/pan is 4K video scaled 50% to 90% in a 1080p timeline. Camera settings: 4K ProRes 422, 23.98fps, ISO 400, "Film" (log), WB 5600K. Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 lens @ f6.7, 35mm. Graduated ND and Hoya IR-UV cut filters.

Here's a 2.39:1 cropped (3840 x 1608) frame grabbed from the 4K UHD video:

A few things shot recently on my BMPCC, there's a bit of GH3 footage mixed in, in both videos. Anyway, I'm kinda learning color grading. I'm using software available to me- Color and FCP 7 for both. Mostly natural lighting- plenty of night stuff though. So they are flashlight reviews, but shot like short films with a script and a lot of different shots.

A parody of the opening credits of a certain popular TV show. Shot with the BM Production Camera in 4K raw and graded with Resolve. Rokinon 35, 24, and 50mm cine lenses. Existing light with the exception of the espresso machine -- that was highlighted with a small LED instrument.

Last Fall we shot a web series using both the BMCC and the BMPCC and today we're starting our big marketing campaign, so here's a promo we shot to kick things off. This is just a standalone piece from the rest of the series but it's a introduction into these characters. This particular piece was shot with a Canon FD Speedbooster on the MFT BMCC in ProRes HQ. Lenses used were the 50mm 1.4 and 20mm 2.8. All grading performed in FCPX using FilmConvert.

Took my Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera to our family cottage in Bancroft, Ontario.
- All shots are handheld, no post stabilization.
- Shot mainly with a 30 dollar C-mount vintage lens (FUJIAN TV LENS 35mm), as well as some shots near the beginning with my precious Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 & Metabones Speedbooster.
-Color grading in Davinici Resolve with Osiris VisionColor LUTs

Any feedback is welcome/appreciated. Cheers guys!

Yes, I wanted to ask where was the beach and cliffs with the windmills, and where oh where was that amazing cabin in the woods? Stunning location. Amazing work!

Here's a music video I did for a very talented 14 year old girl from Brooklyn, NY named Julia Klot.
I shot this with a BMCC, BMPCC and a GH-4.

Thank you! Appreciate it a lot. The cabin by the sea is in St. Peter Ording, Germany. The cliff and the windmills are in france near etretat. Hope that helps.

Had some red gel & a can light and I wanted to recreate a frame from taxi driver, didnt realize the shot from taxi driver was an extreme close up though.

http://mountaintimes.info/category/colu ... um-videos/

There's a link to a series of videos of a Ski Race I shoot each week. This gets me the free season pass to the resort, so I consider it totally worth it. I shoot with the Blackmagic Cinema Camera 2.5K in ProRes Proxy and use a Canon 55-250mm Lens. Takes less than 20 minutes to drop all 30GB worth of video to do a quick pass on the video to delete dead space, put the sponsor logo on the video, and get the time on it.

I shoot BMD Film in camera and apply a Rec709 LUT to the footage in Premiere Pro using Lumetri. I found a way on this forum to use the BMD Rec709 LUT for BMD Film from DaVinci Resolve in Premiere. I then apply to each clip the Timecode effect so that the time is displayed. We play the video through my MacBook Pro on to an HDTV through HDMI each night after the race at the after party. The after party is held at a different bar on the mountain each week.

I return home to export and upload the video that night for the local paper to post on their site. This is a fast turnaround made possible by Blackmagic's incredible cameras.

In the future I'd love to expand and make the race shot with more cameras for more angles, but for now this is done by me alone for a season pass. Enjoy speeding through to find some cool shots occasionally of great runs, or some amazing crashes.

I'm trying to plan a short narrative ski movie in conjunction with the resort.
