AF MARCOTEC pre-order 2k12

PostWed Feb 06, 2013 10:20 pm

Mr Grant told:"We have been sending out regular shipments of EF model cameras each week to all of our offices around the world, and each week we are getting cameras out at a faster rate"

But I, for example, pre-ordered in april 2k12!!!
Marcotec has only received 1 camera in january 2k13!!!
And is still waiting for news from the German Blackmagic distributor...

I'm really fed up with the fake update of Blackmagic!!!

What about you?

Thanks

Again, time for serious update from Black Magic!!!
I pre-order mine in april too!

I cant trust anymore the last update!
This really look like hidding a big production problem
And telling to the customers to wait few more times again and again!!

Please BM it's time to be transparent!

If Blackmagic was able to produce hundreds of cameras a week they would be proud to tell us...
Maybe they keep quiet because they cannot manufacture more than a handful of cameras each day, sending them to B&H and Adorama so it seems like the camera is shipping in quantities while all the other resellers get 0 or 1 demo unit.

BMD stated many times that they were totally surprised by the interest in the BMCC so I assume their production line is not up to the task.

If I interpret Marcotec's latest Facebook post correctly then the one camera they got is now their demo model.

02/07:
Marcotec (a big German reseller) has only 1 EF model demo camera (like a lot of reseller in Europe).
02/08:
Grant said:
"Things are going much faster with EF model camera production, and we have been getting out a very steady stream of cameras to all of our distributors around the world weekly."

Marcotec is a reseller, selling retail. Grant refers to distributors in the regions which apparently are receiving cameras but unfortunately that doesn't seem to translate into every retailer getting cameras in quantity.

Thanks for your interest of Germany!
It's the same for the German distributor:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3989
Only 1 demo camera in all the resseler, and no news from Blackmagic to the German distributor!!!
I hope that it really will change soon!

Did you already received yours, in canada?

Ordered at Marcotec too... the seemingly uneven distribution of the camera around the world is really quite frustrating.

And yeah, I could have proordered with a smaller reseller as well.. but there are also a buuunch of smaller ones that haven't received any information let alone a camera yet as well.. :|

It's extremely frustrating as I have quite many jobs on the table currently where the BMC would have been a god send. Instead I'm consistently renting an FS700 all the time or the ocassionaly Epic.. for all the rental charges combined I could have already bought two or three BMCs

@ Albert N Romero.. when exactly did you order by the way?

I'm currently really torn between the FS700 which would make ergonomical and economical sense to me or waiting. Which makes me sad really because I love the BMCs image characteristics and normally don't care too much for Sony..

I have not ordered yet but I plan on getting the BMCC MFT with SLR Magic manual ciné lenses as they become available.

I am an enthusiast so I can be patient and still have my tape Canon HV20 and gear to use when needed. Of course it was the very limited usefulness of that camera that has me longing for the BMCC. Up until last week, I assumed I would purchase from a Canadian reseller, but Helen from Adorama (New York) shamelessly seduced me with her hassle free cross-border purchase for Canadians so at this point I expect to go with Adorama but I really need to wait for the SLR Magic T0.95 ciné lenses to come available (previewed at NAB 2012) and hopefully budget for it in the Spring.

It's a huge purchase for me since I need to upgrade from my iMac (late 2009), get the Eizo CG275W monitor for grading, a large RAID, the BMCC MFT, gear, and likely a heavier tripod and head. Will be travelling to Colombia in late summer and really want to take the camera with me.

Your right "Available" is the problem!
Anyway, enjoy I'm shure will have time to buy all the equipment you need before having the BMC :-)
Maybe will they preview a "BMC 2" at NAB 2013...but available in 2015 as usual :-)

Now an announcement of an active MFT camera would be such good news as a majority of the passive MFT camera orders would cancel and I'd be able to get a passive MFT easily in time!

I've got too much automation on my Canon still and video cameras. I am looking forward to going back to my manual Nikon roots and making my own decisions. Having image stabilization might be useful but it can also work against you sometimes. If I need greater stability, I usually find a way to steady the camera (a fence post, a tree trunk, a body, etc) or use a tripod for my purposes. I know that's not going to work at all times and for everyone. I often shot handheld at as slow as 1/10" for a still camera (squeeze the shutter as you breathe out slowly), but always used a tripod with the old Bolex. Pardon the off topic tangent! I just meant that I am not waiting for a active MFT camera.

I just asked them by mail!

They told me the 13 february that:
"Germany receives about 10 Cameras a week but this is far not enough to cover all preorders.
We still received no other cameras."

Got an answer from my german retailer, too (Freytag media):

Basically he said it´s a never ending story, they got their demo unit some weeks ago and that´s it. We have to wait but they are very pessimistic.

it has been two month since the sensor problem was "solved". You could really see shipments increase especially in the US but in Germany it feels like nothing changed at all...

We need real figures about European shipping!!!!!!!

It's shame that BMC never answer us, with figures.
To understand why people from the US who ordered in december already have treir camera.
Whereas A lot of European who ordered in April 2012, will maybe have a camera in April 2013...

Not any European shop understand the BMC policy!!!

Have you seen this thread? viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5119

I think it effectively explains why some resellers have been able to fulfill recent pre-orders while others are still waiting who ordered very early.

Yes, that is a good explanation. Still, the question remaining unanswered is: is BMD capable of fulfilling all preorders at a rate that people don't have to wait until 2014 or did they reach their limit of production capacity because they didn't expect such an overwhelming amount of preorders?

But if it's the latter I wonder how someone intends to make money with a "cheap" priced product like the BMC if not via massive numbers of sales.

Yeah.. I guess we have to fly to Asia to get a camera or something... this is really messed up, would be nice to get some sort of explenation. But I don't have high hopes ;)

Did the ship sink (or the plane crash) or something that had the first big EU shipment on board? oO

VERY BAD NEWS from Marcotec this morning:

"No good news. I just talked to the german distributor and they told me that they didn´t receive the 10 units per week.
They received 2 cameras last week and before this there was nothing delivered from Blackmagic.

Our distributor can´t tell any deliverytimes as they don´t know which amount of cameras will come in and when this will be."

One more time, thanks you Blackmagic for your fail updates... Like lies...

No, but I think I should have (preferably some place like Adorama or some smaller Aussie reseller) but friends of mine catched the last one on stock at a smaller reseller in Melbourne, sent it to me via DHL Express and I guess I'll have to pay now ~400-500 EUR import tax/customs fee on top of it. So yeah more expensive than regular local price but still below some exuberant eBay prices.

Still better than continously spending money on camera rental for every paid job

From Marcotec:

"The problem is Blackmagic itself. Honestly, we didn´t receive any other unit then the one demo in January.

Even the german general distributor has no sheduled delivery dates. They receive very few cameras a week.
The promised amount of 10 cameras a week didn´t come true as BM didn´t deliver the 10 units.

Believe me, we are as much as dissapointed as you are. Right now we don´t have any information when BM
Will ship more cameras so that we will receive some units.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Best regards!"
