I've been browsing different brands of (lower priced) follow focus systems, which I'll use with manual cine lenses.

Anyone have strong positive or negative opinions on any of these?

Shape Friction & Gear $490
D/Focus Systems D/Mount Bundle $225
Cavision RFD 15BM $260
ikan ELE-FGK Cine-Kit $400

I have this system that came with their master rig kit. Haven't got the camera to try it out yet but I'll let you know when I do.

Best bang for the buck hands down is the D/Focus, follow focus. Reliable, no play and in a reasonable price range.

Lots of love for the Edelkrone Pro, and also for the Lanparte follow focus. I think the Redrock/Zacuto are great, but honestly not for the $$$.

If you pull your own focus, look into the Edelkrone pro. SOLID construction with a marker that faces the camera op.

Good luck mate

I really like my Edelkrone Focus Plus+, works really well with my rig to extend to where my arms are naturally supporting my rig.

Thanks, Zack (and Dallas) as these look like winners. Falls into the "why didn't I think of that before" since all sole operators will benefit from being able to see the focus marker dial and the video monitor while holding the camera.

After going to Edelkrone's web site, I see they now have 3' XL slider which is compact. Their gear are well thought out and look well engineered, but your endorsement confirms that.
