Installed like butter.
Makes a tremendous difference convenience-wise.
Still going through it but I like it a lot already.

Question for Captain Hook: Does the 4.0 firmware update fix the scaling issues with ProRes files that many of us have seen with certain recording and NLE timeline setting combinations?

I read through the firmware announcement and didn't see it mentioned.

Thanks!

I've got a shot on tomorrow, I'm very tempted to install it beforehand, but I won't.

I definitely will be once I'm back in the studio. I'm looking forward to putting it through its paces.

Thanks for all your hard work Team Blackmagic!

New Record Features
Added additional ProRes resolutions for URSA Mini 4.6K including 4.6K 16x9, 4.6K 2.4:1, 4K DCI, 3K Anamorphic, 2K 16x9 and 2K DCI.
Added additional RAW resolutions for URSA Mini 4.6K including 4.6K 2.4:1, 4K 16x9, 3K Anamorphic, 2K 16x9 and HD.

Any reason why none of those resolutions are available on the 4k? :(

But.....................
Where is the firmware for bmcc 2.5K 4K bmpc cameras??
1280 prores - 50fps for 2.5K this is critical.

I'm happy to say that default magenta/green balance on my 4,6K is now almost perfect!

Same on my 4K; much less yellow/green than with 3.3

I'm able now to record in ProRes 4608x1920 (2.4:1) at 50p, I couldn't ask more! Now it seems a whole new camera!

Just one desire: peaking color has been changed to red. We would all appreciate if we could choose between red, green and maybe white or blue.
Thanks!

Hi, go to monitor->all. You can choose red/green/blue/white/black OR peaking instead of coloured lines.

Really loving it so far !

Camera booting is slower as indicated, but it will get better.

But I think I discovered a bug: I can shoot 50fps max in the Prores codecs, but I know I was able to do 60fps before. In RAW, 60fps is available.

I set 60Hz in the camera settings (tried the 50Hz option as well, went back to 60).

EDIT: LUT import is not working, the camera recognizes my .cube luts, but importing them does nothing.

Make sure your LUTs are less than 1.5 MB in file size. It says it in the manual.

Oh, and what PRORES Settings? UHD goes to 60 fps in HQ and below. 444 & 444 XQ only do 40 fps, same as before. At higher resolutions you're dealing with limitations of hardware, and it's going to be like UHD in 444 & 444 XQ where you can't get above a certain frame rate. For example, 4.6K PRORES 444 XQ won't be able to go above 30 fps.

Umm, George, FYI, as it is explained in the post at the top of this board:

"Customers with issues or bug reports should email 4.0beta@blackmagicdesign.com with the following information:
• Steps to reproduce
• Result(s)
• Expected Result(s)
• Any relevant setup information (camera settings, lens, etc)"

I have the 4.6K, and a brand new Sigma 18-35, everything's fine !
Even tried the Auto Exposure mode with Iris change, it worked as well.

You should indeed email them, they'll see it directly (I sent one like an hour ago, they replied within 5 minutes).

EDIT: good point for the other users using a Sigma ^^ But it's weird, I don't have any problems with mine.

Indeed ! They replied to me directly. I wasn't aware of that limitation :/ Because it's possible in RAW 4:1, I thought it would be the same with prores in 4.0

Regarding the iris issue with the Sigma 18-35, I have a brand new one and I don't have any problems.

Colored Peaking isn't good - it's not strong enough compared to 3.3. In the previous firmware, I could nail focus every time and now I have to hunt to get any peaking effect. If I set the camera to sharpen the footage (usually done for live ATEM) to it's highest, peaking is a little stronger but still not as good as before.

My 18-35 cannot also change the aperture. I don't have a dock for the lens, so I can't even check to see what firmware it's running (or update it).

It always displayed the aperture that way (and does on the BMCC, too). But you should be able to stop it down. I wonder what the difference is for those who have the same camera/lens combo?

There was an april fw update:

1.02 2016.4.14 Compatible with MOUNT CONVERTER MC-11.

For those where the iris is working, did you purchase your lens recently or are on the latest fw?

Sound like those with Signa 18-35s that are not working, need to do a firmware update in the lens. Several users with new Sigma lenses report not issues, and it is working correctly. BM is assuming your lens firmware is UHD to date. The Panasonic 12-35 f/2.8 lens had the same issue with BM MFT cameras, and would not work correctly (Iris control) until lens firmware was updated to its new version.

Those Sigma users who are having issues, should, try updating the lens firmware first, and see what happens. If you do not have the lens dock, now is,the time to get or borrow one!

Yes, use the uninstaller to uninstall 4.0 Camera Setup on your computer. Then install 3.3 and plug camera via USB. Install 3.3 and voila you're back on the old firmware.

The firmware difference is the Oly remaining variable. If UM 4.0 firmware was the issue, then none of the Sigmas would work. So it is not camera FW, but since it is a newer FW version, supporting latest lens protocol standards, then lenses with older firmware are using an older protocol setting, which is not being supported in FW 4.0. This was exactly the same issue with the Pocket camera FW updates, and Panasonic 12-35 lens (which required its latest FW update to bring the lens into compliance with MFT protocol standards used by BM. Now it's Sigma's turn, update your lenses gentlemen....

So this new firmware Rocks! I have noticed however that image stabilization doesn't work with any of my lenses that have it now....is there a setting I need to turn on in the menu somewhere? Anyone else have this problem. The lenses it's not working with are the Canon 24-105 f/4, and the Canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS.
