Lens Question

PostSun Feb 17, 2013 11:45 pm

I'm considering picking up a new lens for the BMCC and have narrowed it down to getting 1 of these 2 lenses.

1 Canon EF 24-105mm L lens
2 Canon EF-S 17-55mm F2.8 lens EF-S

I have read that the BMCC controls the aperture on both lenses just fine.
Do either of these lenses have trouble achieving infinity focus?

I'd like to get the impressions from those that have used these lenses with the BMCC..

Thank you!!

I have the 24-105 F4 L. Works just fine.

If I was buying new I'd go for the 17-55 F2.8 IS as it is a much more useful focal range on the BMCC. Many have reported it to be working perfectly.

Thanks for the replies! I'll definitely check into the Tamron along with the Canons!

No. Both EF and EF-S lenses mount on the BMCC.

Thanks for the input! I just ordered the Canon 17-55 F2.8! I was very impressed with the Tamron's performance.. I was able to get a excellent deal on a EX+ Canon so I went with it!
I will be looking in a bit for a longer lens.. and the Tamron 70-200 is definitely on my list of lenses to research!

I used the Canon EFS 18-200, its great when I want to get wide shots and then punch in for close ups, its not a fast lens with a F3.5-5.6 but its decent for outdoors.

I also use the Tamron 17-35mm f2.8 EF Lens, which is my primary lens I grab out of the bag, its somewhat fast with f2.8 and gets me enough FOV range to cover a variety of shots.
