I bought the last version Phil made and its great...this one looks to be even better with improved functionality.
I'm down for the new one and hope the campaign is successful.

this look's amazing i've backed it. it's going to be a game changer for this camera. i can't wait to see what else comes in the future too... can you imagine a handle remote with zoom, focus control and WB all within thumb reach? it would turn it into the best run and gun camera out there!

I did the same, Lee. Bought the fkrst Goat, and put in for the new one, which Phil told me he was developing back when I got his first model. The new model uses the S Bus, instead of the various analog remote channels on the Micro Cinema camera (aircraft remote connections). The new Arduino/S-Bus version will work with both the Micro Cinema and the Micro Studio camera. The addition of the LANC connection was a suggestion/request I made, which he was already looking into including.

Phil has also added a IOS application for wireless remote control of some functions. All for u dear $200!

Also Kim LeViteZer, has an Arduino/S-Bus remote available, built to order, using dedicated toggle switches in addition to the programmable pot/rotational control. Kim's remote is designed more for using with a gimbal or boom rig. It is a,so a little smaller in size, and can also be mounted to the camera. He also has custom layouts ofmswitches/pots available. I also have the basic model of Kim's remote coming (it is stuck in NY at the airport USPS/Customs backlog).

Both are great products and are products I hoped would be developed when the Micro was first released.
I will be doing a comparison/review of all three units when I get the other two rounded up.

So my question is how thick is the cable that connects the box to the side of the bmmcc?

Very thin and flexible, it is a ribbon cable inside a soft vinyl or woven cover. I have one on my Little Goat V2 remote.

Let's keep this post on the top of the forum. There is 16 days left in this Kickstarter Program and he is behind in his goal. If he doesn't reach his goal, the product won't be made. This is a great addition to the Micro Cinema Camera. I'm a backer for this product. The other guy is charging $335 for a controller that isn't even close to to quality as this one. We need more backers. Spread the word please!

Phil is also making a phone app that will control your Micro Cinema Camera via bluetooth. The app is included with the purchase of the One Little Remote.

Phil is listing his remote as for both cameras. I hope he realizes that the +5VDC available on pin 14 on the Micro Cinema camera, used to power the remote, is not available on the Micro Studio camera, so for it to work on the BMMSC4K, he is going to need to power it externally. Unfortunately, BM used pin 14 on the Studio version for B4 lens control (transmit).

I ran into this issue with Kim's little remote, I got to test out for him. When I went to use it in the Micro Studio, it did not work, as it was not getting the 5VDC to power the Arduino. Kim came up with the idea of an external power input plug to get power to it in the Studio camera.

I've just spoken to Phil and he says that the remote has a micro-usb port on the back that accepts external power. For $108, that's an awesome deal. Of course the price will go up after the Kickstarter program so I encourage everyone to be a backer and get theirs at this price. You have to put in your Credit Card Info but your card won't be charged until the campaign ends which is February 8th. So you have until February 8th to make up your mind and you can back out of the campaign at any time before February 8th.

Thanks for the update. That is one solution that would work, but then you would need to get a USB 5VDC power source. I want to keep my Micro Studio setup powered from a single source Anton Bauer GM camera battery. It would be great to have the 5-VDC come off the 12VDC input on Phil's remote, that is currently the camera power input also. Being able to power both the camera DS the remote from the one input would be grand.

So can I also change the Frames Per Second?

I'd love to have my little setup groups with FPS, Shutter, ISO, Aperture, WB etc. So that I can quickly change to my ideal settings for different shooting scenarios.

No, you have to use the camera Menus to,change resolution and FPS, then the camera does a reset (reboot) to enable the change. See the remote section of the Micro camera manual for what can be controlled via SBus.

Yes Dawane, it would have been. I asked Phil about this last summer when he was developing the new remote.

I think that a remote function for resolution and FPS is an overkill. This remote comes with a mobile app that controls the same functions as the hardware that is included. This will take the BMMCC to another level in filmmaking. I have fat fingers so I be pressing 2 buttons at the same time on the camera. This is very aggravating. For $123, this is a product that is hard to ignore.

Yeah it would have been nice if the specific buttons on the bmmcc were exposed to these protocols as well.

I always do a reformat on a card when I put a new one in. So it will still be the little buttons for FPS and card reformats.

But the focus thing should be cool. I have a sigma 18-35mm that has autofocus (I believe). I use that on my ronin m and I've always said it would be good to ping between two points for some dynamics. So I believe from what I've read you can set two points and then push 1 button to go from one to another.

Yes programmable focus stops is a nice feature to have in a remote.

This remote would totally change how people use the micro cinema camera. Please go check it out and back it if you use one, it's missing part of the puzzle.

UPDATE ON PRODUCT

With 3 days left in the Kickstarter campaign it does not look like the project will reach it's goal.

I have been in contact with Phil.
He hopes to move forward with the product.
He is working on a new case design that he can build himself. The first version took too much time to build.
He is hoping to have a prototype of the new case done before the Kickstarter campaign ends.

He plans to post a link on the Kickstarter campaign page for the new prototype that he is working on.

When I get the link I will post it on this forum.

Yes, Phil also sent this out on his Kickstarter mailing list. However to order, you need to pre-pay at the time you order. His new version looks more compact that the first version, and I like the idea he is developing a grip to go round it.

I bought the NP-F bridge from the starving artist seller having read Phils comment.
It works just fine and its great to be using an NP-F970 battery and not having to carry around all those LPE6 ones!
