Hi, what kind of different solutions do you guys use to get the info from your external SSD's to your computers?

Can you transfer the content from the SSD through the thunderbolt port on the BMCC directly to a laptop (macbook pro for example) ???

No you can´t.
I use a cheap USB3 housing from IcyBox. Fast.

I would suggest a usb 3 hdd (2.5") dock.

I'll probably copy straight from the docked ssd to a raid 5 hdd cabinet attached to my laptop.

That is, if I ever get the camera.

As posted elsewhere, just get the Thunderbolt media adapter from Seagate (for the GoFlex), it will accept a naked SSD as is...

It's currently the quickest and cheapest way to offload an SSD to a Mac with a TB connector...

I got it and it works as intended... don't have the BMCC yet, though

On our MacBook Pro we use the newertech voyagerQ SATA dock via sonnet tempo 6GBS eSATA adaptor. Works like a charm and supports SSD Trim Patch on the Mac.

The Thunderbolt Seagate only works with selected SSDs though - so make sure you check to see if it works before or not. I know it does NOT work with the Crucial M4 512GB directly into a MBP, although I read that someone got it to work when daisy-chained off of a Lacie 2Big. Can't confirm it though.

I thought this was for Seagate GoFlex drives only. You're saying it will take the SSD straight from the camera? If that's the case will it also accept any 2.5" HDD/SSD?

I have two Sandisk SSD's - the 240 and the 480 - and they both work great with the Seagate thunderbolt adapter. I've brought in footage from my camera both Raw and ProRes to my Mac no problem.

a) It isn't much faster than SATA II and cannot match SATA III
b) power dropouts occur with large, fast drives.

You've had no negative experiences? What type of read/write speeds are you getting on the 480GB Sandisk SSD? That's the one I have too.

I'm guessing you've got the SATA III version of the Sandisk?

Also, do you use the Desktop version of the GoFlex?

That's....very technical for someone like me. Mine is the Sandisk Extreme SATA 6Gb. I haven't put it through the disk speed test, so I can't give you those answers. What I can tell you is that I haven't had an issue with recording using the disk with my BMCC. Granted, I haven't shot especially long takes with that disk yet as I'm mostly shooting test footage right now, but again...knock on wood...no problems so far.

I use the portable version of the Seagate thunderbolt adapter because I like the flexibility of the GoFlex drives and I use Thunderbolt in the field a lot for clients. I also use the desktop version of the GoFlex, which is chained to a Promise Pegasus R6 and various other drives depending on which client project I'm working on. But for importing footage from SSD, I always use the portable version.

Sorry I can't be more helpful, I'm not nearly as interested in the underlying technology as most of the other folks on these boards seem to be. I just pick it up and shoot with it and try to make it work with what I have.
