Talk about shooting in Low-light!

Canon announced it's new Full-Frame 35mm CMOS for HD video. Check out the videos at the bottom of the news release demonstrating the sensor comparing it to a EMCCD sensor system.

Unfortunately this would probably not make it to pro-sumer (sub- $20k) cameras anytime soon. They state it is intended for scientific and security (drones?) usage.

Here we are on the forum for a company that makes a camera who's sensor is intended for scientific uses....


I agree it won't end up on a camera in the BMCCs price range soon but the scientific use is not the barrier it may appear.

Very true! It definitely has some trickle down potential. Maybe the next generation of Canon C-series cameras will get similar performance as a result.

Wonder how many NDs you have to stack in front of those cameras to actually shoot something under normal conditions.

Anyway, this new cmos sensor from Canon is quite impressive.
