BMC Arrived - Melbourne, Australia

Hi Everyone,

We pre-ordered a BMC back when they were first announced, but ended up canceling our pre-order late last year because the shipping date kept on getting pushed further and further back, with no firm dates set for delivery. As far as I know, if we'd kept our pre-order, we still wouldn't have a camera even today - as the estimated delivery time from the company we ordered from was April (obviously this is not the suppliers fault though!).

However, last week, we started quoting a job that would be perfect for the BMC, so we did the ring around, and by pure chance, Digistor had recently caught up with their back-orders and had a couple of spare cameras in stock. We ordered a camera last Friday, they shipped it down to Melbourne that afternoon, and we picked it up in Melbourne on Monday. It has to be the fastest BMC order to date!

So, for those in Australia that urgently need a camera - it might be worth giving Digistor a ring as they MIGHT be able to get you a camera fairly quickly!

Good luck!

Best Regards, Chris!

Congrats Chris.

It might even be a good idea to call videoguys in Melbourne, as I got mine* from them within 10 days when they got some stock inbetween, might be gone now again, but they were the only one out of approx. 10 Aussie resellers I asked to be able to deliver (*she's still sitting in Perth now and waiting for my arrival though...).

Good luck everyone and happy shooting.

Exactly... I think you have to be at the right place at the right time.

Videoguys are FANTASTIC, but they didn't have any in stock as of last week. This may have changed by now.

Videocraft are also extremely helpful (and actually gave us the cheapest quote), but still seem to have a fairly big back order as of last week. Again, this may have changed. We love Videocraft and use them all the time for gear hire.

It almost seems to be pure luck as to how many cameras each supplier gets each week!

This week Digistor seemed to get more stock than they thought they would which worked out perfect for us!

I guess that depends on whether or not you've got an existing relationship with them.

I'd just give them a call first thing and see what they say. I'd imagine their stock would have gone pretty quickly!
