Monopod

PostFri Mar 22, 2013 4:19 pm

My BMCC arrives in Tuesday (purchased from Wendys Broadcast in the UK)

In preparation for it's arrival I'm looking at the appropriate external battery.

I use the Manfrotto video monopod for a lot of my work (95%)

My question is this:

Is there an external battery that would sit in between the monopod and the camera? As in my mounted to the quick release plate and then the camera mounted on top?

I use the same monopod with the switronix pb70 battery. It works well, but you can tell the whole set up is almost at the weight limit of the monopod. The BMCC is so much heavier than a dslr.

I have the Manfrotto video monopod 561bhdv and I have used it with my BMCC and a Switronix PB 70 battery mounted on the bottom of the BMCC and directly to the monopod. But it is way to heavy somehow, and when you attach a lens and a mattebox and then all of a sudden it just won't work. I would recommend a tripod or going handheld with the BMCC, the monopod works good with a dslr, but I feel that the BMCC with it's needed accessories is to heavy, at least for that monopod.

Just cut the matte box. That's probably unbalancing the whole thing. I filmed this entire video with the pb70 and a lens and the bmcc on the monopod and it worked fine. It was a little heavy for it but still very usable.
