For quality of video purposes, what do you guys find better, Youtube or Vimeo?

I don't use Vimeo much, but it seems to have better quality compression to me, but I don't know all the details. And if this is so, is it only to people with paid memberships?

Vimeo. you go to vimeo to expect quality material, you go to youtube for random stupid videos your friends told you about.

I believe the compression is about the same though, if not slightly less compression for vimeo.

Keep in mind that Vimeo is also limited to 500MB per week unless you purchase a pro account.

The pro account has custom options for the viewer and no logo options this all adds a cleaner look to the final presentation on any website. I pay for a the pro account, I feel more secure with how they operate rights and distribution.

Yes the compression is better than youtube and they also keep the original file on their servers so that the owner can later download the full original file. Password locks, clean client downloads, all optional depending on what you decide.
Youtube is better for code, links, seo work and building a fan base.

Vimeo with pro account, no doubts
Unlimited hd videos (even 2k), and for sure your videos will be accesible in any country.
Lots of youtube videos are blocked in germany due the GEMA

Vimeo, at least with a Plus account, is much better. If we're talking 1080p, you have to enable it manually on Vimeo, but still, no matter how high a bitrate you send, it gets crunched, to about 2.5Mbit on YouTube and about 3.5Mbit on Vimeo. The Vimeo download button is the only way to get really nice video to people who want to see it, but only Vimeo members have that option.

If your aim is best possible quality, it's Vimeo...
If your aim is biggest possible exposure, it's Youtube...

What are the compression rates for YouTube for 2k, as I know they allow 2k uploads?
I was unaware vimeo supported 2k.

Thanks guys, it always seemed like Vimeo had the better compression. Do you need the Plus account to access 1080p quality? Or is it just 720p until you get the Plus account?
