SHOT ON BMD Badge

PostFri Jun 01, 2018 5:36 pm

Does anyone know if there is an official "Shot on Blackmagic Design" badge for use in films credits? If not, I think its about time for BMD to make one. Their cameras are now respected enough in the industry that I would be proud to put that in there, right along with that R company and that A company.

No. Just type “Shot with” followed by the logo. But, really this is something the BMD lawyers need to discuss first.

That would be nice to have branding Tony. Occasionally I just add a line of text in the trailing credits but an official brand image would be better.

I agree with Rick. I'd love to see an official "shot on BMD" bug. I'd be happy to put it in the credits of things I'm shooting on the Ursa Mini.

I'd quote you all but you know that I'm all for the branding as well. ;)

Aside from you all contacting the PR team via the email address I mentioned above, I'll see what I can do to pass this along to the powers that be.

I wrote to Terry in PR today to suggest creation of a "Shot on Blackmagic Design" graphic.

Would there be a vetting process?

I'm only asking because i've seen some pretty crappy BMD footage and i'm not sure how the "shot on RED" types work.

There is a page on the Red support website that lists the requirements for requesting Shot on Red:

Right. Or someone can publish an underexposed worst developed low light shooting with written shooting with ump
Naturally is a camera that give him a bad picture, not the operator that don’t know how to expose, shoot, export movies...
I think that pages is to use Shot with Red official and to have a space on red web

Since I have still not found any official badges, I have taken the liberty to create some myself. Please note that these files are not official BMD files! They are just for those who love BMD products and want to show that in the credits of their films.

I have used the official logo as a template (colors and font) and I have created a few variations. Feel free to use those badges in your projects.

Oh and also; I have decided to go with "shot with" not "shot on" because like in the logo I have written the "shot with" with no space and the same colors as the logo. And IMHO shotwith is better readable than shoton...

Have fun

Any bozo can include the logo, which is unfortunate. And never fear, you'll see lots of horrendous footage shot on Red also.

The Shot on Red page lists the requirements to have a film included in the Shot on Red collection.

I don't know to what level Red curates those though.

This should be something created inside of DaVinci Resolve's Fusion Page as Native Elements and available as standard Fusion Generator Templates. 2D and 3D versions.

These are really nice, though I can't imagine BMD would take kindly to folks altering their brand assets. Companies generally have a pretty meticulous and specific brand style guide, with specifications on how their logos can or cannot be used in conjunction with other text. I'd be pretty hesitant about using unofficial logos, especially since they already provide official logos in their Media/Press page.

I agree, best to stick with what BMD offers and not worry about breaking any design rules.

When I'm doing projects for production co that uses RED or Arri, we always put their logo at the lower end of the ending credits. I shoot on BMD for a number of indie projects and that will be nice to have a shot using BMD logo. I'd put it on all the projects we shot using the BMD cameras. Like someone said above, it be nice to have it in Resolve to easily add on a credit template page.

Tony, you got +2 from me on this to sell to your promo folks.

I like to revive this thread, and see if anybody has a solution?
Doing some support for some students in a local collage here, they also have asked for something similar.
