When I ordered my BMCC back in August of last year through B&H, they had recommended the Crucial 256gb. My camera finally arrived a few days after NAB. The card seemed to work just fine in my initial tests. However, last week I filmed a very large Jewish wedding here in Scottsdale and all of that went out the window. All the shorter clips (less than 3 minutes) the audio was great. On the longer clips (30 minutes) the audio was out of sync by one second. The images were perfect. I was shooting at 30fps and Pro res. I normally shoot at 23.98 and never had a problem with that, but once I went to 30, it would go out of sync in 3 to 4 minutes. You would know exactly when that happened each time because the record light would start flashing.
I contacted BM support and they told me that the Crucial card can only record compressed, and that I would have to do a firmware update of the SSD card to 000F.
I then contacted Crucial. Talk about a $%^&&##@#$%^&*(. I had to get into my old tower, take out one of the HD's, put in one of the SSD cards into that slot, and then they tried to walk me through the process of updating the firmware. After two hours, they gave up and told me the firmware probably wouldn't work anyway and that I should leave each of my SSD cards (I have two of them) plugged in for 24 hours and it should clean out the garbage. What garbage? I've only had them for 3 weeks!
Needless to say, I ordered the SanDisk Extreme 480 and will figure out a way to return the two Crucial cards.
What a mess!
