Wouldn't this solve all the M43 aperture issues?

Call me old school, but I much prefer a fully manual lens (image stabilization however I love...but
it's incredibly rare for prime lenses)

Wouldn't adapters like this one solve the aperture issue for the BMCC/M43 cam?

The reason why I'm asking, is because Philip Bloom pretty much makes it sound
like we're stuck with voigtlaender lenses.

I did some reading...with the M43 mount, we pretty much can attach ANYTHING to
the BMCC because there's pretty much an adapter for anything on ebay which you
can get for the BMCC/M43 cam.

So what am I missing here?

Most new or old, fully manual lens can be easily adapted to the BMCC's new passive m43 mount, such as PL cine, Voightlander, old Nikkor & Canon FD, and others. They mount via relatively inexpensive, purely mechanical mount adapters available from a wide variety of companies.

Electronic lenses (such as Panasonic Lumix, Canon EOS, etc.) require a more expensive mount adapter which can provide power and other electronic support, such as for aperture, focus and/or IS, but these are far less common -- if they exist at all.

If I were to use a modern lens...and left the aperture wide open, would this $99 adapter then be able
to get the job done? What's the tradeoff using an adapter with a modern lens?

I've used the Kipon adapter on an AF100 with very poor results. With the 'aperture' behind the lens it suffered from serious vignetting issues. I also wasn't impressed with the build quality.

With Canon lenses I've been using the Redrock adapter. It allows you to control the electronic iris in the Canon lens. More expensive but it works.

Or you can do the old trick of keeping a Canon DSLR body handy and set the aperture with it, then pop the lens onto the BMCC.

Would a cine lens (which have declicked aperture) be unaffected and be fully usable manual wise?

That's total overkill.

Lots of people are offering simple/easy 'aperture hacks' online,
where you can simply cut a slit on the side of an aperture...and manually adjust.

What? Are you saying that people are modding their canon EF lenses to manually adjust the aperture? any links to share?

I guess it's only total overkill if you can hack the lenses repeatably and well.

On the other hand, $550 is about the cost of replacing a lens you cut a hole in the side of to try and manually adjust the aperture and stuffed it up so.....
