How has shipping been going?

Hi Guys, I'm a longtime lurker and new poster.
I was wondering how shipping has been going recently. have people who've ordered the classic 2.5k camera (EF) gotten their hands on it recently? I emailed blackmagic about this, but haven't gotten an answer.
I'm considering buying one within the next week or two, but i'd just like to know if production prospects are looking up and i should buy the equipment with the camera, or buy the equipment when the camera ships (which may be a couple mos. from now, if things aren't going too well)... thanks!

Let me put it this way...

We pre-ordered a camera a couple of weeks after it was announced. We ended up cancelling that order late last year because there was no delivery prospects in sight. If we'd kept that order, we still wouldn't have the camera yet!

However... by pure chance, good luck and great customer service, we ended up ordering a camera from a different supplier on a Friday, and got it the following Monday. This was about a month or so ago now.

Shipping is... unpredictable. It's getting better... but it's not like you can go into a shop and pick up a BMC EF today.

All depends where you are.

In Australia and the US you can get lucky and find resellers who have just got shipments in without already having pre-sold them all. In Japan pretty much every reseller has them in stock to buy "off the shelf". In the EU many resellers have not had any units at all, and the bigger ones have not shipped preorders from July 2012 yet.

We ordered ours in the last week of March and got it the following week. Here is the trick, go to a BMD certified reseller.. they get it much faster than others. You can find out who they are by going here and entering in your details.. http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/resellers/

I think that if I were to call every single one, one of them should have it in stock

As long as you're not in Europe, yes, that's the way to do it!

There are some US vendors who can and do ship internationally.
