UPDATE:

Well now I have been given a warning by Christine for multiple postings. Also all previous MFT Update threads have been deleted, which is a shame because they proved how many thousands of reads, posts and comments they had received.

The MFT crowd will have to stick with Simons post now (which hopefully won´t get deleted!)

I would be grateful though if we can carry on the name list, as follows:

Maybe they should concentrate on their work.. stop this warning thing and give us an update!!
Christine.. you should ask your boss if MFT camera is coming and stop warning people who have the right to be angry with BM

Obviously. There is yet another vague update up on RedSharkNews about these cameras... which would lead one to believe that we won't be seeing the MFT BMCCs anytime soon, yet they're confident that we'll see the other two camera models on schedule.

"Because the EF orders came first, we really want to satisfy as many of our pre-order list as possible. Most of the EF orders will have to go out before we start with the Micro Four Thirds.”"

This one is going to bug a lot of people, and with good reason, because even people who are ordering EF mount models NOW are getting them, while those of us who ordered the MFT model are STILL in the dark

Hey guys,

I've been thinking about this heavily and I think I'm just gonna jump ship. It just doesn't seem worth it anymore. Even if we get this camera (hopefully before 2014) look at the kind of communication this company has with its customers. Look how far behind the firmware updates are. I see that it's an innovative product but the company releasing it...I don't know, just not being honest and open.

In any case since I know there are a bunch of you here waiting for the MFT as well- I was wondering if anyone would be interested in the gear I have to try to resell now. PM me if interested in any of the following, all in great condition:

Kowa 16H 2X anamorphic adapter
Canon FD 20mm f2.8, 35mm f2, 50mm f1.4, 85mm f1.2 lenses
Canon FD to MFT adapter
Slr Magic 12mm f1.6
Slr Magic 25mm f0.95
Voigtlander 17.5mm f0.95

Thanks and good luck guys!

Redsharknews. 20th of may 2013.. nearly 6 months after the camera should have been released

Now?? How many warnings are we going to get for being cheated??

It looks like so many have now fortunately cancelled their MFT pre-orders. The Canon 5D Raw is taking over. I already bought and hacked a used 5d and am shooting 2.5k anamorphic raw, full frame sensor, 14bit, etc. I am so happy now that Blackmagic never shipped the MFT camera I pre-ordered, or I could have been like this guy... :)

Hello again Christine,

Sorry to bug you again, but can you confirm or debunk anything with regards to this article for us?

http://www.redsharknews.com/business/it ... ic-design-“confident”-of-july-delivery-dates-for-new-cameras

I know it's not really anything new, but it is coming from a BMD source, and the focus on emphasizing how confident BMD are that the other two models will ship in July, whilst giving no real info on what's being done to overcome the sensor supply issues of the BMCC is just another example of the maddening silence about this camera.

If the sensor supply issue is still such an issue for backlog orders, how come people are ordering EF models with one week turn around here in the US? I know this is probably just a product of distribution issues, but again -- what's being done to overcome these problems?

Furthermore, if there is some sort of further development happening with MFT, like active mount, why not just say "Hang in there guys, good news will be coming in the near future"?

I know I'm not bringing up anything new here -- I'm just asking again in hopes that someone at the top will finally do the right thing and give us some info soon.

It will not be normal for the MTF version is delivered as pre-orders of 2012 EF are not completely honored.
It shares both the meme sensor.

Hi all, i too have money in my pocket to spend on a BMCC 2.5k. Ive also been following the progress of the DIGITAL BOLEX RAW camera £2100, they too are close to dispatching cameras BUT every bit of progress is updated on their site and hold weekly live video streams so you can throw questions at them, i found that to be great customer service! Unlike what ive seen here...shame :(

That's great that they're great at answering questions.
Unless I'm mis-reading it, their Kickstarter page projected delivery in August 2012 (last year).

Yes BUT they keep their paying customers updated once a week!
They have made more than 20 changes to the camera directly from customer suggestions!
And they feel honest!

How about this for a theory?

BM are preparing to concentrate on their 4k and pocket cams, and by NAB 2014 even more variants.

If so, where does this leave the BM cinema cameras?

Well seeing as they have had so many sensor issues and seeing as production is SO SLOW, would it not make sense to ditch the cinemas cams altogether and concentrate on new sensor technology? If this is the case then one can understand BM´s reluctance to talk about the MFT.

With all the stick, complaints and blame that BMCC have given the sensor company, I can imagine that they are not particularly interested in working with BM either? This is however a shame as the sensor was "special".

Lets face it the MFT (as we know it) is most probably dead.

Being a tiny public funded company makes that easy. To use an example I'm familiar with, I've supported a few new video games on kickstarter and ALL of the companies post regular updates, they are small 4-10 man teams but they keep us updated because they can find time. It tends to be with larger companies they focus more on advertising and getting their products out (contrary to popular belief) than PR.

Well, according to this interview, from the 20th of May, with Blackmagic Design’s Director of Asia, Richard Lim, the MFT BMCC hasn't even gone into production yet at all:

"Most of the EF orders will have to go out before we start with the Micro Four Thirds."

Odd, I've found footage from the MFT and someone here got an email saying their MFT had shipped (though the email could have been an accident and meant to be a confirmation of order or something).

The footage you've seen is from a BETA model.

I highly doubt they have shipped an MFT BMCC to anyone. It was most likely a mistake by the re-seller/customer.

If they're doing footage from the BETA cams and the body is the same why wouldn't they atleast be in early production?

Well wouldn't that constitute a major change? As per verbal commitment, BMD would have updated this development if it had happened.

This is bad news Folks. Most of Europe haven't got their EFs. UK's CVP still stuck at mid June 2012 pre-orders.
We could be in for a very long wait... Could be quite a bit past the launch of the new pocket and 4K cameras. I suspect that is why BM is so quiet. Plus their policy of saying nothing unless there's somehow good news.

It much more than a mess, its embarrassing, annoying and completely disrespectful. I don´t care if they release the MFT tomorrow with hundreds of new features added. It would not change the way I feel. BM really need to take a good look at their marketing strategies in relation to promises they have made and the way they choose to communicate with their customers.

It isn't just their marketing. I suppose the real disadvantage in getting such a low cost camera is that you can't trust the company that makes it to stand behind it. If this is how the company operates, then there's really not much chance that they'll change the film world because they won't have the trust of their customers, and hence no loyalty.

This is a trusted company that has been making high quality affordable gear for a long time. The reason there was so much support for them making this camera from the beginning is because they had proved themselves to the market over time.

It is a bold move to make these cameras. Just the fact that they are pushing the limits in this way shows that their heart is in empowering the artists.

-Am I frustrated that I don't have my MFT BMCC, and I don't know why? Yes.

-Am I tempted to change my order back to an EF BMCC in hopes that I'll get the camera sooner? Of course.

-Will I periodically call the dealer for info or email BM directly in hopes that I'll get some news that will comfort me? As sure as I constantly look down that subway tunnel in expectation that the act of looking will make the train come faster, the answer is yes.

-Am I going to lead some rabble rousing revolution against the company that is actively trying to make my dreams and my artistic vision a reality? No.

In other words, if you don't like it join the club, but do not attack the people who have always busted their butts to put professional tools in the hands of aspiring artists. The indie revolution is about support and respect for the brethren of creative souls who would normally be pounded into some pedestrian existence. Empowering them not to rely on the 1% for the keys to the kingdom. A global network Indiewood that forces Hollywood to compete with us!
