Passive vs. Active m43 Mount

PostSat Sep 08, 2012 6:32 am

To quote John Brawley ... "As the mount will initially be passive, ..." With "initially" being the operate word ... Does this mean that the camera will ship with m43 electronic mount contacts from Day 1 but operate in "passive" full manual mode with autofocus and IS (on compatible lenses) to become software enabled at a later date?

The question of the day ... Can we get someone from blackmagic to confirm the answer.. Literally might make a purchase decision ??

I thought it may be relevant to everyone who plans to use it in run and gun situations ... BMD have indicated that Autofocus and IS will be available at a future date via the EF-S mount and now the MFT mount?

this camera is relatively dirt cheap so you just buy second one with tiny project at your hand :)

i would go with ef for now and get second one later.

but that just me

EF mount camera has electroincs in the Bayonet that allow us to in the future enable some of those features.

The MFT mount has no electronics in the Bayonet.

No possibilities to rethink about this? I think more people can be interested with a active mount..
