I read somewhere that the MFT mount is rated for a maximum of 1 kg. Now, on an MFT camera, if you go higher than that for lens weight, you can just support the lens as most MFT cameras weigh less than 1 kg I believe. But with the BMDCC, it exceeds 1 kg.

So, if one were to use a lens > 1 kg, would one need to support the lens separately?

Good question. I'm not exactly sure of this answer. I'll try to find out, but will be out of the office next week.

However, i'm pretty sure that a typical rail mounted lens support would handle this fine.
