NO MFT UNTIL LATE AUTUMN ?

Seeing as BM are not giving us any information, we have to rely of posts like the following:

flazzing wrote:It appears that the MFT model will start shipping in late September/October after the 4k production camera and Resolve 10 (starting end of July) and pocket camera (end of August in limited quantities). An active MFT mount for the 2.5k camera will be announced at NAB '14.

If this is true then this is really awful news!
and totally contrary to what has been said by BM at NAB13

Could you indicate a source that we could read to see the context of that information? Personally I am hopeful all three ship by the end of July with volume shipping in September even if in limited quantities (BMCC MFT passive or active, BMPCC MFT active, BMPC4K EF). Traveling to South America for September/October and I don't want to take my Canon HV20 this time!

Flazzing posted in an existing thread, which is his/her only post on the forum. The lack of any source is suspicious, as is the assertion that the 4k might have an impact on the BMCC shipping, when the limits always been sensor supply, and the 4ks sensor is from a different manufacturer.

It might be true, but anyone 'relying' on a post like this isn't someone I'd trust with weighty decisions.

While I'm as worried as anyone that MFT model could potentially take a backseat to heavier BMPK 4K and BMPCC pre-order demand, I see no reason to take the post above as definitive information considering no source is cited and this info doesn't appear anywhere else that I can find.

Christine, before this speculation gets out of hand, is there any way you could confirm with the higher powers that existing pre-order BMCC EF & MFT cameras are still top manufacturing priority and will still ship before the BMPK and BMPCC? Forgive me if this has been 100% confirmed elsewhere, but it seems like info that would put a lot of us at ease, and I don't recall a definitive yes or no to that question.

I'm trying to track down the source of this rumor. I'm confident that this user was just making a guess and stating it as fact. I'll check with the product managers to see if there is any news we can share this week.

Thanks Christine, that would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure this is someone trying to stir the pot. But, any news besides no news would be good news to a lot of us.
And Thanks Colby for making the request.
Best.

Very much appreciated

Do people feel the need to blow up completely unfounded rumors in a separate thread? All we need to do is simply continue the discussion on this with considerate inquiry. They'll get the message.

It always happens in a void of information. At first people will try to be patient, but enough evasiveness leads people to assume that they're getting screwed. When the silence/evasiveness continues long enough, these rumors start spreading. It's always easy to prevent this from happening, and it's always better to head it off at the pass by simply keeping people in the loop, and yet very few companies actually do it. They almost invariably take the silent or evasive route and and wind up having to deal with an increasing mount of ire and negative PR.

It's because people assume that if the company isn't saying anything, then it's most likely because they are trying to hide bad news.

I´m quite sure bartman would not complaint if bartman had his camera.. or at least knew what is going on.
So you are annoyed because if his complaints...
Maybe he has reasons to be annoyed too.
I was promised a camera for december, and now i have to share my next production, five months later, with a red one owner.. and change all my shooting schedule to his dates.. and as you can understand this makes me loose money and time, and of course makes me be less independent.. and i don´t know why is it happening.. because we never get an answer... you see.. this kind of things get people annoyed, and it gives them the right to complaint as much as they want.
If you don´t want to read complaints go to canon, panasonic or sony forums..
If you get tired of complaints blame Blackmagic, not Bartman.

Super 16 film cameras are available now! 1/3rd the cost but no Resolve...:D

Seriously though, it's a testament to Blackmagic's product genius that so many of us are holding out for the MFT. I've worked with the Canon mount version now and know that this is the camera for me, just wish I could actually buy it.

I have a large investment in Super 16 PL mount lenses that are waiting for a new digital home.

Please Blackmagic, you're my only hope!

+1, down to the facts and reasonable reality, If there is more people like you wants to be silent we wont force BMD to make an action in case you have a problem with your bride to express disappointment, BMD broke a promise, I don't say its unforgiven, But its unacceptable when they ignore the consequences, and hell yeah I'm still waiting for updates Haven't I ?

The user who posted the original rumor has said that the information came from a reseller: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7714&start=50#p50077

Occasionally, a reseller will give a time estimate or assumption that comes across as fact. Please be wary of this information. If we have news or a solid timeline to share, we will definitely post it on this forum.

I've asked for an MFT update, but we don't have anything to share yet, sorry guys!

Thanks for trying, Christine. Just to be clear, are you saying you were able to confirm that the info given by the reseller is inaccurate as far as your product manager knows? Just asking, because while I agree that we should all be wary of shipping timeframe speculation from resellers (or anyone else besides the actual manufacturer), we will all breathe a little easier if you can give us assurance that this specific rumor was pure speculation. Thanks, and again, I do appreciate you trying to get us some info.

TBH For us Europeans if you are outside the top 10 with your resellers you be very lucky to get the MFT before the end of the year.

I guess those patient enough wait until the end of July. If there's no shipping product by then, it probably wont happen. BMD will be too involved in 4K, BMPCC and NAB 2014 developments to revisit a 2012 camera and bearing in mind they'd have a 1080p MFT solution in the BMPCC, the original MFT BMCC will probably drop by the wayside. Doesn't make commercial sense to thump the same target with two sticks

If you are thinking about shooting something before getting old.. get yourself a gun ;)

We are really not getting consequential information from BM, neither from Christine or the NAB reps.
Either they are secretly planning to release a active MFT mount and have taken some extra time to do it,
or somethings gone terribly wrong, something which is hard to believe when Mr. Bloom seemed happy with his BETA camera.

Once again we are lurking in the dark.

This is the one of the latest official comments, via a member from BM support (2 weeks ago)

I can tell you that we are getting closer to shipping as the Beta versions have gone out to our testers a month or so ago. Unfortunately I do not have any information other than that, no estimates on shipping dates or anything like that. I do understand your frustration and will make that clear to the product manager but I simply do not have any shipping information on the MFT Cinema Camera right now.

Hope lies in these few words:

I can tell you that we are getting closer to shipping

Why is it people are talking about active MFT? One would have guess any active MFT would be put on the new pocket camera instead of BMC. If there are active MFT BMC they have not gone out to beta user. I doubt BMD want to rework an old camera when it is far more lucrative with new models and NAB 2014.

Indication of a release date is what we would like to know.

Hi guys, I didn't mean to stir things up. I was just relating the info that was given to me from the company in NYC where I put in my pre-orders for the BM-MFT. They may have been tired of my calling every couple couple of month to ask for updates...who knows. Christine was nice enough to contact me and straighten things out. It is looks like there is indeed no time table on the MFT release.

Some rumors around...

Thank you for contacting black Support,

The Blackmagic Cinema camera MFT, Is currently shipping in small numbers,
we are currently honouring the back orders, in terms of date ordered, before fulfilling any new orders that may arise

However I do not have any specific time data as to when you will receive the camera nor when production will produce the cameras on a much larger scale,

If you wish i can add a follow up to this ticket in a months time, to inform you on the current shipment scale?

But probably false or misunderstandings.

To my knowledge, the only "shipping" of the MFTs were the cameras that were sent to the beta testers. I will contact EMEA support and make sure there is no confusion.
