Sounds about right, B&H does not always get stock very quickly. Adorama normally gets BM new items sooner, I have noticed. First US shipment is broken down into regions and then sent to the retailers.

Oh thank God for that.

I will be out of the country most of September and was wondering when B&H might start getting cameras. No idea where I am on the list, so I may have an additional wait anyway.

Kristian said that B&H didn't get this date from BDM.

BH states that the camera is a number one seller. Does anyone have an idea on how many cameras they have pre-sold?

Methinks Rakesh is pulling your leg. The only people who know how many they've pre-sold are at B&H and that's likely considered proprietary information by them and by BMD.

... with the possible exception to Canada where a famous writer used a different number for pretty much the same reasons. I’ve quoted it a few times here so now you know where it is derived. So to answer your question in Canada, the number is 187 or 187,000.

Same number, different units

ProAv in the U.K. preorder numbers were around 70 over 3 weeks ago.

I don't remember if B&H had it listed like this before today, but I think my order status has updated....




I preordered on May 10.

Does an order say "backordered" when it's preordered?

I was just told by B&H that my cameras were early preorders and would ship from their first shipment.

FWIW, I ordered April 9 and my order status doesn't look like that.

What does your status say?

Backordered. But there's nothing that says "Processing".

I think you get a email that says “processing” when you place the order. Once it has been processed, and no stock is available for immediate shipping, it goes to “backordered”, showing it is on order with the supplier, and your order with B&H is waiting for stock to arrive to fill the order. Remember, B&H is a large outfit, with retail store, mail order and shipping departments that are all at different locations.
