I live in sunny Florida, and use a Variable ND all of the time on my EF-S glass on my T3i when shooting outdoors. I was wondering how this would work with the BMCC. Any issues you guys can foresee?

if u see review of bmc from philip bloom ( 45 min )
u can see the power of bmc on day time & sunny
i think with this camera we dont need nd filters .
because the dynamic range is very good for decrease burns hilights .

I finally got a chance to watch Philip Bloom's excellent review, and saw him using the ND's on the outdoor shoot. It seems to me the only reason to use them would be to try and achieve a shallower depth of field. It also appears that to use them properly you'll need a field monitor so you don't have to fight the reflection off of the BMCC display. It also seems that because you can't currently tell what your aperture is set at electronically, you won't be able to recreate perfectly a shot, especially outdoors when you are adding on an ND (and of course the normal issues like the light changing).

You will need nd filters for the same reason you need it with dslrs and any other camera: depth of field.
