1.3 Firmware & audio Rode NTG2 problem

PostTue May 14, 2013 8:03 am

I have just upgraded to the 1.3 firmware. I used to use the NTG2 Rode mic straight into the camera with decent sound at around 70% microphone volume and ch1 at 70%. After the upgrade, it is *extremely* quiet and dull even up to 100%! The built in mic is loud however unuseable due to the fan noise. I am on location and do not have access to a juiced link. What should I do? Can I downgrade the firmware to 1.2? This used to work very good before!

Yes, you can downgrade to 1.2 or 1.21, therefore you haveto de-install all blackmagic-software from your computer, install the 1.2 software, then udpate the camera as usual.

As others have said, the easy fix is to just down grade to 1.2.1.

However.. it's odd that you're getting these results with 1.3. Unless I'm mistaken, 80% Mic Level should give you LOUDER results in 1.3 than in 1.2. They basically changed the gain structure in the firmware update.

Let us know if rolling back to 1.2 fixes the problem.

Rolling back to 1.2.1 fixed the problem. 1.3 may have louder audio for the built in mic but not for the mic input. I don't use a juicedlink or line input.
