I wonder if HyperDeck Shuttle could be backup recorder one day?

What i mean it should talk to BMC with lets say usb just start and stop as BMC does not have
TC.

Video signal goes by SDI.

My goal would be to have backup recorder that could wake and sleep by itself initiated by BMC
and started maybe few frames later and stop after camera stops.
If it could have same file naming and numbering it would be great if not then one could make
round it simply using numbered clap etc.

Sound Devices with their internal hdd and CF combination made me thinking BMC could have
backup partner for production situations.

Does my idea sound silly ?

Pretty sure many are already doing this.

From memory you can have the shuttle slave record based on the SDI feed. It knows when your'e rolling the camera via the HD SDI.
