Hey guys, so I'm trying to figure out which lens would be best to get for the wide on the pocket camera. I have around a 300 dollar limit and am looking for either an 8 or 10mm. I'd go even wider but that doesn't necessarily seem reasonable from what I've been able to find.

I'm currently looking at this: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/8 ... sheye.html (I plan on going with the nikon mount because I already have 3 nikon lenses that I will have an adapter for).
It's a little higher than what I'm trying to spend but I would love to have a cine lens for a follow focus (eventually, don't have the proper gear for that yet, but I like the possibility). But I can always just go with the regular photography option since they're optically the same from what I understand.

Are there any other choices within this price range that are optically as good or better? I was looking at 10mm c-mount lenses and they look good, but I have no idea how well any of them compare optically. Also, I'm sure I'll get a larger sensor eventually so it would be nice to already have bigger lenses.

So any thoughts?

Are you looking for wide lens with minimal distortions, or a wide fish eye with skewed lines?

I'm looking for minimal distortion. That lens won't have any distortion (in terms of fisheye) with the pocket camera because it crops to the center of the lens. 8mm is about 22 or 24 on full frame, somewhere in there, on the pocket camera.

what about the SLR Magic HyperPrime CINE 12mm T1.6 micro four thirds?

I purchased the SLR 12mm a few days ago, I'm really happy with it, very sharp and good in low(ish) light. I will be doing some tests with it on monday. Hopefully i'll post some somewhere soon.

A fisheye is still a fisheye even when cropped. I think you want a rectilinear lens like the SLR Magic 12mm 1.6 lens for MFT mount.

but as I never had a MFT-mount-cam I don't know what old SLR-lenses can be adopted, but remembering from my wide-angle quest for the 7D I don't think there's much wide old glass
around at all at reasonable prices and not being a fisheye as well.
