Very interesting. I wonder if the diopter is adjustable?

Thanks.

You might be right, but I'll contact them directly to ask the question. Will report back here once I have an answer. If it does, might be a great addition to the camera.

Just got word back - it doesn't include diopter adjustment. Bummer.

That’s unfortunate as I’d really need the diopter. It looks like a good design.

I just contacted a seller on eBay. He told me that it has 2.8 diopter. So please someone buy it and let us know.

Australian Image wrote:That's not so good then. In the meantime, I'm looking at another DIY option. I remembered that I had a 3" Hoodman LCD loupe and, after testing it on my field monitor, found that I could easily see the entire screen with the loupe held at around 25mm from the screen.

So I've ordered an ABS instrument case that is just under the dimensions of the 5.7" screen (much easier if it were 5" monitor) and I'm going to look at cutting a centre hole in the case and attaching the loupe to that. The entire assembly can then be either hand held or attached by various means to suit. With a bit of luck I can make this with what I have and do almost as good a job.

I'm actually building my own.

The Hoodman 3.0 loupe works well for this application. I've built a folding frame to add the Hoodman to my Ninja 2 - so it's an EVF/recorder. Works great. The Hoodman loupe just squeezes in, as it's got a rubber finish.

Now I've got a design for a two part frame (connecting with magnets) to use the Hoodman on the Pocket 4K with SmallRig half cage. Hopefully should be getting a prototype back from the printer next week.

Hey Ricardo, it does have a diopter (needs it to function) but the diopter is not adjustable. In other words, you can't focus it depending on your eyes.

Zacuto makes the Z finder that fits the original pocket camera. It works perfect and one can add diopters to adjust to your vision. I recommend that we each email zacuto sales directly and lobby for a new version that fits the Pocket 4k.

Boo! It's hardly micro and costs US$1950!

Why do they have to be so freaking large and expensive?

The Zacuto loupe finder that I was referecing cost under $200 USD. A simple hood type optical device.

Hi Ray,
Do you have any updates on that 3D printed Hoodman attachment? It'd be great if it were commercially available. :D

Still waiting for the prototype to be printed. Got a mate (industrial designer) who's helping out with this in his spare time - which lately, he hasn't had much of.

I'm getting one 3d printed after making a mockup with some plastic sheet and a Hoodman 3" loupe. There is a reasonable amount of distortion but it's better than shooting 1/2 blind when outside. Really BM should bring one out.....

I've got my 3d printed hood! I've got to attach the optical unit from the Hoodman 3" with the screws and put some black velvet flock on the interior but it looks like it's going to work very well and I should be able to turn down the brightness on the screen and save some battery as well.
