Hi,

Okay not got my BMCs yet but looking at getting an EVF, probably will go for the Alphatron. But I'm wondering what is the best way to mount one properly?

Note, I don't have a cage yet, but will need one of course.

I use the Wooden Camera EVF mount.

It's brilliant. You and position the Alphatron any angle and distance you might need and its rock solid.

A cage is really nice to have, and I recommend the View Factor cage, I have it and I like the snug form factor.
From the various mounting points, I use the Zacuto 6" or 9" articualating arm (w/ Zacuto connection adapters). I really like their arms, the large red tightening knob is big enough to make it easy to crank it down solid, as well as loosening.

+1 for the view factor cage.

I tried an "magic arm" for the EVF but as its movement it un restricted it takes more time to get it level with the camera. With an EVF you really want it to be level with the horizon and square with the camera so you are looking in the same direction as the camera. Pitch up and down should be the only plain of movement. The Wooden Camera EVF mount does just that.

Once you've used it you'll not want to use a magic arm again.

Magic arm is great for a small directors monitor tho. Like the smallHD DP6.
