Some of you balked at the price of the Intel DC s3700, so now intel has made a cheaper version called the DC s3500.
The difference? Total lifetime writes.

for a 200 gig drive:

Intel DC s3700 3.65 Petabytes (that is 506,802 minutes of footage)

Intel DC s3500 140 Terabytes (19,444 minutes of footage)

The DC s3500 drives will be in the $1.22 to $1.43 per GB range...

The takeaway here is that you don't have to worry about trim.

i wonder if 700 times would be sufficient ?

I think a lot of people here do not realize the write endurance of the drives in the blackmagic approved SSD list is even smaller than the 700 cycles 19,444 minutes of footage of the S3500.

I edited the first post, the write endurance comes out to 19,444 minutes of footage. That is a hell of a lot of footage.

I like the idea but availability testing and pricing are limiting factors.

Why don't you have to worry about trim?

240gb 3500 model has also lower power usage what i like on paper.

Have you done a Google search? They are widely available. Many people have tested them out.

These are datacenter class drives that do real time trim and garbage collection. Therefore they do not rely on the host device to issue a trim command.

Seriously, you know these are never going to show up at Klick.

I meant actually companies that sell server stuff.

If really new models then it will take long time even when special order.

This is why i asked test with BMC.

On paper Samsung 840 Pro also is very nice but they are slim and some people
have problems with them.

Not sure how long could one use them etc but they are available.
