Premiere Pro CC on ProRes Log footage

PostSat Jun 22, 2013 5:19 pm

I'm having some trouble getting the right contrast and brightness on ProRes log footage directly in Premiere (without grading in Resolve). Would anyone be so kind as to post some screenshots of their basic Fast Color Corrector, Three Way Color Corrector or any other 32-bit effects used to grade?

Thanks in advance.

I'd recommend using CaptainHook's LUT from this thread: http://www.bmcuser.com/showthread.php?3 ... MDFilm-LUT

You can use LUT's in Premiere using LUTbuddy (free): http://www.redgiant.com/products/all/ma ... lut-buddy/

To use it in later versions of Premiere: http://guruv.wordpress.com/2012/11/15/l ... e-pro-cs6/

Thanks I'll try that. I'm using Premiere CC which has built in LUT loading so it shouldn't need LUTbuddy. I would still like to see some demo settings for the Fast / Three Way Color Correctors in Premiere if anyone has them.

Why not just do a first pass grade in Resolve? ResolveLite is free...

Seems kinda pointless to shoot Log if you're not going to grade the footage...might as well save yourself a whole step in the process.

If you just want to apply a LUT and move on, just shoot in Rec709 instead of Log. Done.

Well, for one, there are more LUTs then the standard one that comes with the camera. And anyway it's useful to know how to apply a lut for editing, then taking it off and moving to a coloring/finishing suite to grade.
