Using a Canon CN-E18-80mm T4.4 with URSA 4.6K G2

PostWed Sep 04, 2019 8:53 pm

Hi there,

I'm a relatively new URSA user and have just got my hands on a new 4.6k G2 (very excited). So far with my URSA 4K I had been using Canon L Series lenses but I'm now looking to move up a step to a cine lens. I have a job next week that is a bit more run and gun style so am thinking about investing in the Canon
CN-E18-80mm T4.4. While the lens is not the fastest, I'm thinking as an allrounder it will probably do the trick.

Does anyone have experience using this combination together? How was it in the field? Are the auto/servo focus supported on the 4.6K G2?

Thanks for reading!

Hi Tim,
I don't know if you've decided to get that zoom since then but I've been looking for some feedbacks on that configuration as well.
I was wondering how the AF button and the REC were behaving?
And if the Remote input of the servo is able to communicate properly with the Lens input of the camera (with a proper cable, I guess)?
The goal would be to entirely control it via the ATEM ecosystem.

Just fyi, it appears that you don’t need any cable between the servo and the camera: instructions for iris focus and zoom from an ATEM device might go directly through the EF mount pins. Well, at least, that’s how it works with this lens on a Pocket 6K drived by an ATEM mini.

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for your replies. I actually bought a cine lens when I was in NYC earlier in the year 9pre-pandemic). No zoom but it meets my needs, which this year have not been many!
