Monitor for BMC SDI

I did not see monitors covered in FAQ so i start new thread here.

What kind of monitors you like here ?

What i like with Alphatron evf is that they clearly state that resolution is half the sdi.

Wonder if there is any monitor like that or has full HD on it.

Any ideas?

There are so many many options out there. All depends on your budget.

smallHD make some very good monitors. I own a DP6 but the new AC7 and DP7 Pro are awesome.

Marshal make a range of good monitors as do TVLogic.

As for EFVs you have 2 options that I know of that currently offer SDI. The Alphatron EVF, which I own and love using, and the Cineroid EVF.

Most small field monitors don't offer full HD resolution.

But what i was after was the conversion quality so to say.

Alphatron states clearly that it will cut normal sdi signal by 2.

Is there something similar in monitor or they just interpolate somehow the level it is good ?

The Alphatron LCD is 960x480. So is half the width of the 1080p signal coming from the SDI. That is pretty high resolution for an EVF.

As a point of reference its the same resolution as the LCD EVF on the Sony F55. The OLED EVF for the F55 is 720p. The Zacuto is only 800x480...

The Alphatron just scales the HDSDI signal. Not sure where you read it cuts the signal?? The Alphatron, like many others, offers various scaling modes including 1to1 pixel mode (available for critical focus) so it's not cutting the signal.

As for monitors... Very few field monitors run HD resolutions. Most are less than 720p. Most just scale the HDSDI signal.

Cuts a signal was more scaling interpolation method i meant.

Full pixels if you look on alphatron page for scaling technology they use.

FYI I own the Zacuto and am happy to discover that the audio meters work really well on it. Actually getting pretty good sound from a Rode VideoMicPro, as well as a Sennheiser ME66. I've been connected from a Shuttle2 but am switching to a SDI to HDMI converter shortly for a smaller footprint.
