Why getting "Change Project Frame Rate?" Message?

PostSun Apr 21, 2024 11:32 pm

I have two files, File 1 and File 2, whose properties are shown. The project settings are also shown. If upon opening the project I first import File 2, I get the above message that reads "The selected clips have a different frame rate to the project. Would you like to change your timeline frame rate to match?" If I click on Change and view the project settings, the frame rate has not changed from its original 29.97.

If upon opening the project I first import File 1, which does not give rise to the above message, and then import File 2, the above message does not come up.

How to explain?

Can someone explain why the images are not showing up? I clicked on Img and inserted the URL's as specified. In any case, here are the URL's:

DaVinci Resolve free?
Post a sample clip to a cloud service.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

Yes, the free version.
How could the content of the clips explain what the program is doing? I'd be surprised if the program analyzes the clip content before deciding whether or not to post the message. I assume it just examines the clip properties. When is 29.97 not 29.97?

If it matters, I add that both clips are mp4's, File 1 is from a Panasonic Lumix G9 camera and File 2 is from a Sony FDR-AX33 camcorder.

When there's Drop Frames.

Mediainfo https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo shows the actual detailed properties of the files, if they are identical in mediainfo, then it's more interesting.
In the Media Page you can see both files in the top left window, is the fps identical there?

People here swear by the Media Info app to show media file attributes. I’d suggest downloading it and seeing if it agrees that both files are actually 29.97. Perhaps one is tagged as a slightly different rate - say 29.973. Just a guess.

Mediainfo shows both files are 29.970. Here are the details. File 1 is on the left, File 2 is on the right.

I initially tried adding attachments but it only appeared to allow me to add one.

Any idea why adding the images didn't work?
