Deliver timeline contains glitches and breaks

PostSun Sep 05, 2021 5:25 am

Since 17.3 I experience strange results in my export. It happens on MXF files in the timeline. Playback of the timeline during editing works fine. But in the rendered export there are these glitches. I am on a commercial project and now I have to recheck every export, its terrible, because it happens randomly. It never happened before 17.3.
Quick solution would be appreciated
Regards, Volker

You don't give us much to go on. Give the FAQ a good read. It goes over some troubleshooting steps, as well as what information to post if those fail.

I'm having the same issue. In both 17.3 and 17.3.1 I'm seeing visual stutters on FX6 MXF files whenever Resolve transcodes them. Both my proxies and finals have these glitches at random intervals. The original footage is clean. Rolling back to 17.2.2 seems to fix the issue.

Thank you for understanding and explaining it better. It looks this jittering happens only to FX6 files and that more users have the similar problem. I will try to roll back to 17.2 also though I would prefer a fix
Thanks Volker

The same issue with MXF XAVC from the FX9. There's no other solution but to go back to 17.2.2

Possibly worth a shot for those who rather not roll back their install. I found that this error occurred only when editing FX6 MXF UHD files in a 1080p timeline. I found that when I increased timeline resolution up to UHD then I didn't suffer the same glitches/stutters. FWIW that was still exporting down to 1080p file.

Frustrating still, but relieved to find a workaround without rolling back.

The UHD timeline workaround seems to be working ok for me. I still had one render glitch in the exact same spot of a previous export that almost seemed like a caching issue, even though the render cache was cleared.

Has anyone determined if it's all XAVC or just XAVC-I? I'm working on one project using XAVC-L footage from the FX6 and it seems unaffected. Still, this is a pretty detrimental bug, and I hope BMD gets it patched up soon. My workflow is dependent on FX6 XAVC-I.

I've confirmed this bug on two different Windows systems at this point, one with a 2070 and one with a 3080Ti. I don't want to roll back to 17.2.2 on my 3080 system since it had major crashing issues in the Media page before 17.3.

Hello,

same for me, even using DR 19beta1.
Color artefacts (smaller or bigger colored squares) or short frozen frames appear randomly in the delivered timeline (HD, ca. 40 minutes).
Deliver environment is: source files (UHD) on HDD, project file, cached clips and deliver folder on three different SDDs.
Even if delivering from the same unchanged cash files, the problems appear at random position in the delivered timeline. I tryed changing the deliver format, maximal bitrate, using only the CPU or the NVIDIA card (with latest studio driver), deliver speed, nothing worked...

It will be great if BMD will provide an instruction how to collect necessary information (log files, ...) helping them to investigate this issue, as it seeme it is present from many years.

Thank you for any help.

Which formats did you try? DNxHR or CineForm too?
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.
