Product Registration Problem (resolve 18.6)

PostSat May 11, 2024 2:31 pm

I had to recently reinstall my resolve after reinstalling windows. I was busy rebuilding my c drive and I installed Resolve without registering it. When I returned to it later I couldn't find a registration procedure anywhere on the software.

Next I reinstalled my resolve 18 but I had to do this several times because I couldn't find a registration location anywhere.

How do I register my 18.6 if my reinstalls keep on registering a previous unregistered version? Is there a method to fully uninstall this program or is there a way to register an installed version? Also how do I check if it's already registered?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

When you install Studio without a dongle, Resolve will ask for the Activation Code. You are responsible for keeping track of that code.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Are you confusing Registration with Activation? If you've downloaded the installer you will have already registered it.

If you are talking about the Studio version, when you open it and it requires activation you will see a screen similar to this where you enter your Activation Key.

If when you had the Studio version before but now Resolve just opens, check that you have in fact downloaded and installed the Studio and not the free version. When opening Resolve the Splash screen will say Studio in the title.

You register when downloading the installer. In the case of the Studio version you can just click on Download Only.

When you download the installer make sure you choose the right one. Studio versions have Studio in the title.

If you have installed the free version by mistake you need to uninstall it before installing the Studio version.
In Windows go to Control Panels/Programs and Features, click on DaVinci Resolve to highlight it and click on Uninstall at the top of the page.

With regard to the Activation Key for Resolve Studio, if you lose it and have not kept a record of it there is no way of retrieving it so you would have to purchase another one.
