Create subtitle from audio not generating.

PostSat Sep 16, 2023 8:37 am

Greetings, everyone. Subtitles aren't being generated from "Create subtitle from audio". It goes through the analysis process, but then... nothing happens. Any suggestions?

I ran a brief test in Studio 18.6 on Windows 10 and it worked.

RTX 3060 12 GB

What's your OS and version?
Resolve version number? Free or Studio?
GPU model? Driver version?
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Also looking for help here. Went to YouTube first, and it seems to work as expected for everyone else. :)

  • I'm working with an already-edited timeline that, when I render, will be about a 45 minute video. It's a podcast, so we're talking the whole time.
  • From the Edit view, I select the TimelineCreate Subtitles from Audio… menu selection.
  • In the resulting dialog box, I leave everything as default, except for explicitly setting the language to English.
  • I select Create, and get a very brief "Initializing" and "Analyzing" message.
  • I get a new subtitle track. About 2/3 of the way through, I get a single sliver of subtitle with a duration of about 1/3 of a second, and the subtitle is "[BLANK_AUDIO]".

It appears that updating to today's 18.6.2 release resolved the issue for me. Thank you.

I am just not running into this issue with a project that I was able to generate subtitles for yesterday but not today.
I am running most up-to-date version- 18.6.2 Build 2

I have double checked that subtitle layer is NOT locked or disabled. Is there anything else I can check or just a glitch?

Kill the subtitle track and try again. The AI will generate a subtitle track automatically.

Hi - I had this same issue until I set in/out points on the timeline... after that it worked perfectly.

Subtitles not working. System Resources issue. My experience is I Had about 20 clips that required subtitles i put each clip into individual time lines. The 6th Timeline would not effectively generate the subtitles. So I created a new project and created 5 timelines, brought clips 6 to 10 to this project, and problem solved. My Conclusion my System didn't have the power to Run AI for any more than 5 clips.

PS Each clip was at max of 2 minutes audio was music, speech, and singing.

I do confirm (after loosing HOURS on this issue) that you need an IN and an OUT points to generate subtitles.

@ Philippe:PC or Mac?
I can generate subtitles from a full 1.5 hours timeline without setting any I and O.
Running at around 7x RT.

I came here to find the answer to this same problem and sure enough I had to put IN & OUT Points at each end of my timeline.

I've been creating Subtitles for every YouTube Short for quite a while and never had to put IN & OUT Points to create Subtitles but it worked just now.

I'm fully updated (need to update my signature here) and first tried a full restart that did not work so maybe this is a temporary glitch.

Same exact problem, but it worked fine last month.
45 minute webinar so it's all talk.
Windows 11. Resolve Studio 18.6.6 (When it stopped working I upgraded hoping for the best)
It analyzes, then just stops.

Anybody have a solution?

I am running 18.6.6 latest update on M1 MB Pro 16, Mac Sonoma 14.5 latest and the titles will not generate (although I successfully did this a fe3w days ago).

I have tried with and without io points. The subtitle dialogue comes up, I make no changes, click on CREATE button and, then the dialogue disappears and nothing happens.

Stuck hard on this. Full restarts. May 21, 2024.

UPDATE:
FWIW I had first bounced the audio track over to Izotope 10 and then saved the edited audio track back into the project. I noticed the original track remained muted underneath the edited track, so I went ahead and removed the greyed-out original audio track which was underneath the updated audio track. Davinci generated subtitles as before. Glitchy.

This.

The strange thing is, that it's not always the case. In 95% of the time it generated without in/out points and in 5% of the cases, in/outs are neeeded. why ever lol

This is also accurate. Resolve can't generate subs for tracks with bounced audio effects. It's the track hiding underneath it, that's readable. Why ever, it doesn't make much sense if you ask me.

Well, back to the same. I bounced the track back in, there is no file underneath it, just the bounced file. After the create subtitles dialogue, is clicked, nothing happens and no titles are generated!

I have the same issue here

I am running DR v19b

System specs
intel i7 6700k
32gb memory
msi 2060 super
windows 10 pro 64bit

So it created the subtitles at first but it had missed a bit at the end of the timeline or I might have added a little bit after I tried deleting the sub track and when I tried to create them it just sit there initializing. I've set in and out point but it will not create the subs. When I click stop that just sits there as well.

To get this working I had to copy everything to a new timeline

Thanks

You may want to explain this in the beta subforum to get the attention of the developers, Melvin.
