Properly backing up projects before upgrading to Studio...

PostFri May 24, 2024 9:12 pm

I just purchased Studio.

Before I go ahead and uninstall the non-Studio version, I did the following:
  • Back Up of Local Database (Project Manager) onto a network location (NAS).
  • Exported all projects (Project Manager) onto a network location (NAS) (with Stills and LUTs, even though I don't know what this means).
  • Copied/backed up the following folders onto a network location (NAS):
      .gallery
      CacheClip
      Resolve Project Backups
Did I do everything correctly as far as backing up my projects go? I assume they will import just fine into the Studio version, even though the project files were created in the free version.

Also: as an aside, I tried exporting all my project files at once, but it crashes the program. Is this normal?

I hate to bump this up, but I really could use a definitive answer on this so that I can go ahead and upgrade to Studio.

Installing and uninstalling does not delete or alter the project libraries, but of course you want to be backed up anyway, which you appear to have done.

Projects have to be backed up (as .drp files) one at a time.

Thank you for confirming.

What is the purpose of backing up the "Local Database"? I have no clue what it does, to be honest. Nor do I know what those 3 folders I copied are really used for.
