crash with Nvidia GTX1660

PostSat May 25, 2024 10:06 am

Hi!
I have troubles with Resolve studio: one file makes my Nvidia GTX 1660 crash!
This is at opening or a little bit after.
Anyone can help?
I put the resolve log, the window sys nfo and the drp file at:
http://www.sauvenay.org/transfert/HP_nvidia_crash
I reinstalled resolve, put the last driver of Nvidia, but it changed nothing.
Thank you for helping!

Regards

I can't say definitively that a new GPU would solve the crash, but a more modern RTX card is well worth consideration for today's Resolve.

Something with at least 12 GB of VRAM.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Maybe you're right. Simple but...
Anyway, what's strange is that my lenovo flex5 with its Iris XE has less difficulties to work with that file... Not very obvious...

Just the one file?

What's different with that file? If nothing is different it might be corrupt. Does it play well outside of Resolve?

"File" is not the good word, sorry, I mean an editing DRP file.
The only difference with many other edits is that there are more tracking power windows and color nodes, sometimes with magic masks. Too much?
Do you think that possible?
Thank you!

For that GPU?

Very likely.

Yes this is what I mean: for that config (GPU, computer, etc.)
I am surprised. It's only 1920.1080...

If your GTX 1660 only has 6GB of VRAM like my GTX 1060, then I can well imagine it struggling with tracking Power Windows and Magic Masks. The more VRAM your GPU has the better for intensive tasks. ;)

You can open task manager and see if the GPU is being pushed harder. Look at the amount of Vram and just the percentage.

Or for more detail, get GPU-Z (free) and see exactly what happens to your GPU.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.
