Audio Issues Resolve 19

PostSun Sep 01, 2024 4:34 pm

More audio issues in Resolve 19.

1 - After starting up if I try to capture video and audio the audio meters don't respond to any incoming audio and sometimes no audio is captured. Now if I go to the Edit Tab and playback a timeline and then load a clip into the Preview Window and play it going back to the Media pane and capturing again the meters will respond and it always captures the audio.

2 - Loading a new clip into the Preview Tab nets no meter deflection and sometimes no audio output from Resolve. Once again the solution is to play anything on the timeline but going back to the Media Tab once again and returning to the Edit Tab nets the previous results.

3 - No matter what BM Interface I use I cannot get Desktop Video Setup to hold the Analog inputs. Switching from the Edit pane to the Media pane or vice versa causes Desktop Video Setup to revert to the SDI Embedded Audio Inputs. I'm working on something that requires Analog Audio inputs but I constantly have to reopen Desktop Video Setup and change it back to the Analog Inputs.

4 - Switching between tabs again resets the audio and I have to repeat this silly sequence.

Please fix ASAP.

Okay so I had to go all the way back to 18.1.4 to get a version that doesn't have these issues.

Something major must have changed from 18.1.4 to the next version 18.5 for this to be an issue even up to version 19.

So even 18.1.4 does the same thing as soon as I save the project. I run Resolve load the Untitled Project and everything is good but saving the project (new name) causes the same problems mentioned previously every time I re-open that project. I don't feel like going back any further.

This is very much ridiculous.

Found that I must load the Preview Clip before playing the Timeline for this workaround to fix the Audio Playback and Capture.

Can anyone chime in from Blackmagic.

This is a real hassle when I'm on set.

Thanks

This issue is such a pain and a problem that I'm completely losing faith in Resolve and Resolve Studio.

Please help me out here.

I've been tryin to get eyes from staff on my posts for a week about laggy timelines, choppy audio, and issues in Resolve, and everyone gaslights me "it's your hardware" when I know it isn't. It's 19. Or it's Nvidia, something. Either way, I can't personally fix it, and it's frustrating. I'll be downgrading to 18 till 20 comes out after my big project is done... 19 is unusable and BMD is very quiet in helping us figure out why.
Systems: I have two a desktop and a laptop.

Desktop Specs: 3070 Nvidia with 8GB Vram, 64 RAM, Ryzen 7

Laptop Specs: 2060 Nvidia 6GB Vram, 64 GB ram i7

Both are windows 11 both using Davinci Studio 19.0.1

I hear you. Unfortunately for what I'm doing Resolve is completely unusable. I went all the way back to 18.1.4 and these audio issues make it unusable for me. This is obviously a bug that no-one has found before. I don't really want to go back any further because I highly doubt that this issue persists and I've wasted enough time on it already, I'm just going to use Media Composer.

The SH_T hit the fan the other day when I captured a take and there was no audio captured in that clip. It's so weird what it takes to get it to work.

1 - Load a clip into the Preview Window.
2 - Play the Timeline (even just a quick play and stop works)
3 - Briefly play the loaded clip in the Preview window.
4 - Go back to the Media Tab and go into Capture mode and do not go back to the Edit tab unless you repeat the sequence from the beginning again and then it always works.

Issue number two, no audio output and the Mixer audio meters show nothing playing back the loaded clip.

Solution

1 - Make sure the Preview window is loaded with the clip you want to view.
2 - Make sure a Timeline is loaded.
3 - Briefly play the Timeline and now when the Preview clip is played the audio and Mixer Meters are fine.
4 - Going back to the Media tab and going into Capture mode causes the same issue.

Man what an absolute pain when things get rushed on set.

I have a 2014 i7 MacBook Pro with Monterey and I tempted to go back the Resolve 16 to see if this issue is there as well.

I would send the logs and NFO for 18.6.6 if I could find them however I no idea where to find them. 18.6.6 is doing the same kind of things and 19 has more bugs so I rolled back.
