BMPCC6K Braw Footage Audio Sync Issue in Resolve 19.5.3

PostSat Nov 02, 2024 2:24 pm

Somehow braw footage of my BMPCC6K now plays back at a different speed than its own audio in Resolve 19.5.3. While the audio sounds fine, the footage looks like it is being played back in slow motion.

It is hard to explain, but in the image the claps (peaks in audio) should be where the cursor is.

Any idea what I could do?

The likeliest explanation is that you recorded the footage with the "HFR" mode activated. Check your camera settings.

I just checked the camera and off speed recording was switched on. Can you tell me by what exact number I have to speed up the clip in post so it matches the audio? It was supposed to be 24fps.

He can’t, you only can do that.
Check the settings in camera where you have recording frame rate and project frame rate, and you can find the number dividing second per first.
Hfr allow you to record at xx frame rate with xx destination (project) frame rate to have instant slow motion or acceleration.
You can insert a large different numbers of frame rate, you only can see the exact value on camera.

And then, even if you get the math right, it may not be in perfect sync over longer clips. If that happens, only tedious manual corrections will help, like cutting out or adding short pieces of room tone.
Since it's so damn easy to touch that button, we normally tape it over with a small 'bridge' of hard plastic for recordings at normal speed.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

Dividing the numbers and using them to change clip speed got me close. The best solution I found was to use retime control and align the end of the clip to the end of the audio waveforms in its audio clip.
