Clips from Blackmagic Camera App don't work in Resolve

I made a few clips with the Blackmagic Camera App on my Samsung Galaxy S 10. They play fine on the phone, and in VLC player, but when I import them to DaVinci Resolve, I only get "media offline", and the clips don't work.

Any advice on how to fix this?

I tried it on my small Macbook Air M2. Absolutely no problem but I use the Studio Version.

Are you running Resolve 19.1?

Playing fine here with Resolve Studio 19.1 on Win 10.

Since it's an H.265 HEVC file, it won't open on free Resolve on Windows, unless you install the Microsoft HEVC extensions from the Microsoft Store:

But it will cost you $0.99.

I've verified it opens in free Resolve 19.0.3 with the HEVC extensions installed, and doesn't open if they are not.

H.265 HEVC opens on my Resolve 19.1 Free/Windows 11. I have the VLC Media Player installed ... perhaps this included the needed codec. Whatever, I did not pay for it

I have VLC installed, but that does not help.

I wouldn't mind buying the codec for a dollar, but MS wants to install MS store on my system so I can buy it, and that I do mind. Hm.

A Resolve Studio license will fix you right up.

I’ve put in a feature request to give a message along the lines of (“Only the paid version of Resolve supports %s on %s”, codec, os)
