Blackmagic Cloud - Media Offline after attempted relink

PostTue Nov 12, 2024 5:54 pm

Greetings,

We are working as a team on a project that began from our headquarters, our main editor is offsite working on an external Thunderblade. He has had no problems connecting to the footage.

I have the original SSD where we filmed and backed up the footage. The folder structure when I backed it up to our headquarters' servers is exactly the same and remains unchanged. All of us are using Macs, They are all up to date on the latest Davinci Resolve Studio 19 build 19.0.3 (as of November 12, 2024). When I'm attempting to relink the clips to color grade the footage nothing changes and it says media offline. I can clearly see the folders are exactly the same. Also I tried individual files and still it says 'media offline.'

When I click on the Relink Media button on the top left it lists all the drives being used including our editor's Thunderblade. Is there a way for me to add the SSD that I have to the list? Will that make it possible to finally link with the cloud footage? Either way I'm editing offline after having copy and pasted the library to my local library. It's non destructive but then I have to give the color grade over in a way that is time consuming for our editor to apply.

Welcome to Hell...

You should not try to relink (via Relink option on bin view). If you are having the same folder structure, say:

thunder blade /
---ProjectX
-----RAWS
-----SOUND
-----GRAPHICS

you disk /
---ProjectX
-----RAWS
-----SOUND
-----GRAPHICS

With the exact subfolders, then you should just check your Path Mapping options on project settings, and ensure at least you have one that relates thunder blade/ProjectX on "Location" to your local path yourdisk/ProjectX.

Otherwise you can let Resolve look for media by clicking on the broken red chain over your bin view (Having always the Automatically setup when relinking tick checked on the Media Path dialog) but in my experience (very very painful experience) Resolve goes completely nuts on complex folder trees.

But never relink or change source folder, because you could broke your other editor local paths.

Hope this helps.

first try relinking the video folder by folder.. if its causing issue, try using the replace selected clip option to replace the clip the with what you have in your hand.
