Sound in transitions

PostMon Apr 14, 2025 5:26 am

This problem has been there since I remember, and it hasn't been fixed in v20. Turning off sound in transitions has zero effect on it. While sometimes it's needed, most of the time sound in smooth cut transitions results in superimposition artifacts. My workaround to delete the transition sound in the timeline, copy the transition and paste it does not work with the speed editor. This is bloody annoying

Sure.

For starters, transitions don't "have" sound. They can be applied between two audio clips, but that's not the same thing. So your initial premise is unclear.

Ok, here is a fourth-grade-level detailed explanation. Transitions have video and audio panels. Video panel has settings for what happens between clips while the audio panel has settings for blending the sound. They both have on/off switches. Try to turn the audio panel stwitch off and see what doesn't happen.

I think you will find that the on/off switch for both video and audio only turns on or off the panel to allow for adjustments, not to turn the actual transition on and off. Other transitions on the video do not turn off either. Not having used this function. I can't tell you if it has always been this way.

It's always been that way. I am not sure whay you mean by "only turns on or off to allow for adjustments". Everywhere else across the Resolve the on/off switch has an obvious and predictable behavior.

I mean that you can turn it on, alter any of the parameters in the Inspector and then turn it off. Anything you altered in the parameters will stick.
Why is it like this? That is a question you would have to ask BMD.
