Strange "Recovery" folder appearing in Media Storage

PostThu Apr 17, 2025 3:03 pm

<Jerry Seinfeld voice> What is the deal..... with this "Recovery" folder?? It's always showing up... on the Media page under Media Storage!</Jerry Seinfeld voice>

I have a MacBook Pro M1 (so Apple Silicon). When I've seen DaVinci Resolve tutorials online I haven't seen this folder appearing for other people. I'm curious why it's showing up for me. And I kinda don't like it! :x

Can I safely right click on it (in DaVinci Resolve) and select "Unmount Drive"?

It’s a Os disk which should not appear until you have serious problem on MacOs.
It’snt resolve fault, but an Os fault.

Ok thanks! Good to know it's not normal.

I "talked" with ChatGPT a bit and it agreed with you, adding that normally this volume shouldn't even be mounted at all. I tried unmounting it inside Davinci Resolve and via Terminal. Neither option worked.

Because I had some weird trouble where I actually couldn't upgrade the Operating System last fall, and I don't want to mess up my MacBook since it's working fine now... I'll just leave it alone and ignore it. And at some point in the future when I buy the next MacBook I'll keep it as a fresh install of the OS and manually copy files over.
