Animated Subtitles Beta 20 bug?

PostSat Apr 05, 2025 7:07 pm

When I create animated word highlight subtitles, corrections in the subtitles arent reflected in the animated subtitles. Is this a bug?

I experienced the same problem. Tried to edit in several places with no success.

Confirmed - plus it appears that you can't add animation effects to manually created subtitles, only to those automatically generated, suggesting to me that the act of dropping a subtitle animation on a subtitle track header is reading the subtitles from somewhere other than the subtitle clips...

Hopefully it gets fixed in the first update but not sure it's a priority. I deleted the Snap Captions plug-in before upgrading as I thought I wouldnt need it any more but I guess I still need it.

I also hope they havent made the decision to animate only surtitles generated by DR because it wouldnt make any sense. For example I use a different tool that uses whisper ai for subtitles and I get cleaner and more accurate results than the DR ai models.

Is it not possible to edit the animated subtitles it auto-generates?

It's broken, until the fix this bug you can only animate a surtitle track generated by DR as is. Any edit to the caption is ignored by the animation.

I can't even edit it on PC. The subtitles generated on the separate video track it makes are locked down. Can't click inside the subtitle box to even edit words.

I experience the same issue. Once you animate the subtitle you cannot edit them the changes don't have any effect. If you delete the animation effect from the subtitles you can edit them again.

Can confirm that this is an issue for me as well. I tried to manually change the text in the Track panel where the text animation is, however, it would not allow me to type in the text box.

Same issue here. The autogenerated subtitles whilst great are not always accurate in words or timing on the timeline. Any changes to words or timings are not reflected when you drag a animated subtitle effdct on to the subtitle track.

This is unfortunate. It's seriously misspelled some words, and I can't even edit them. How quick do they push out these minor fixes?

There are so many bugs I might take them another week to release an update but there is no way to know if subtitles will be fixed in the first update. It will be several months before they will get out of beta. Historically there should be an update every 2/3 weeks.

Dang - I was *really* hoping to make my subtitles nice and consistent, but waiting 3 weeks is a bit too much to bear. Ah well.

I found a temporary fix: Make all the corrections you need in Subtitle track 1. Select all subtitles, and shift-drag up to create a new subtitle track. Mute the old subtitle track. Apply all settings on the track level, such as animated template and size. It worked for me as Davinci regenerates the words.
