Feedback on Transcription Issues in DaVinci Resolve 20

PostTue Apr 08, 2025 12:57 am

Dear DaVinci Resolve Team,

First of all, I would like to appreciate the improvements made in the New feature in version 20 of DaVinci Resolve. The updates are truly helpful and a step forward. However, I would like to bring your attention to some major issues that still exist in the transcription feature:

1. Language Detection Limitation:
Currently, the language is auto-detected during transcription, and there is no option to manually change or choose the language. This becomes especially problematic because the language selection option is not uniformly available in all sections such as the Timeline and Media Pool. It would be great if users are allowed to manually select the transcription language at every point, instead of relying only on auto-detect.

2. Select and Move Transcription Segments:
We cannot freely move small portions of the transcript (up or down) for reordering or adjusting their sequence. This flexibility is very important for efficient editing and workflow.

3. Hindi Language Transcription Issue:
When trying to transcribe Hindi language audio, the results are often inaccurate or appear in a completely different language, making the text unusable. Kindly fix this issue as Hindi is a widely spoken language and support for it is essential.

4. Subtitle Editing Flexibility:
Please provide the ability to freely edit subtitles directly from the Timeline, Media Page, or anywhere without needing to go through multiple steps. A more seamless and flexible subtitle editing experience would be highly beneficial.

You can select the language in project settings under "subtitles and transcription". Worked for changing it to "Dutch" for me.
