USDRenderer doesn't render 3D Stereo, Layered or Deep images

PostSat Apr 19, 2025 9:00 pm

The USD 3DRenderer node does not seem to be able to render either "regular" 3D stereo images , Layered output channels or Deep images .
USDMerge can accept Cameras, and untextured objects from the regular 3D system but there is no way to go the other way.
The regular 3DMerge cannot accept or render USD raw objects, uLoader Meshes or, most crucially, uVolume VDB files.
VDB/USD render with the ability to output Deep images that can then be used by the new Deep compositing tools seems like a essential ability.
Also , the lack of Stereo/ Layered channel output seems like a serious omission.

I had hoped by this time there would be other Hydra renderers available for the USD system - like the free Cycles (although, sadly, it still doesn't support deep output in Blender) or AMD Radeon ProRender (support for Deep output seems contradictory on their website).
