Fusion Subtitle Issues in 20 Public Beta 2

PostWed Apr 23, 2025 5:18 pm

Been using the new fusion subtitles quite a bit, however they are still mostly unusable even in this latest release. Some guidance in how to properly use them would be great, perhaps this is all user error.

    * Doesn't appear to be a good way to create your own fusion presets. I've tried creating subtitle presets, those do nothing with any of the fusion styling. I've tried copy/pasting the template within fusion which overwrites my text. And I've tried saving the settings of the template and loading those, but that also overwrites the text.
    * Still does not seem to be possible to edit caption text when using any of the fusion subtitles, animated or not. This really makes the feature unusable. Ideally, the subtitles should update from the whatever is in the subtitle track. But even the text box within fusion is not editable except when applying an expression to it, but this ends up overwriting the text for the entire track.
    * We could use better options to center justify left justified text. You can either left justify or center justify, but you can't center justify left justified text if that makes sense. The best workaround is by controlling the text box, but those are numeric values not referential. It would be nice to "center" the textbox, center it's width, and still have the text left justified.
    * Really excited to use "write-on words" however it's not possible with edited captions yet at all. Guessing this will require a new interface since we're replacing the words that auto-captions have already key-framed?
