Changing Fade Curve!

PostWed Apr 23, 2025 5:56 pm

After creating a fade-in to a video clip, is there a way to change the fading curve?

If you used the fade handle, then no. Unfortunately, that is linear only.
If you right-click on the edge and add a dissolve transition, then you can do ease in, ease out, or ease in and out. This is slightly better, but still very limiting.

I now do all of my fades/transitions in Fusion using AnimCurves which provides a lot more options,
Sine, Quad, Cubic, Quart, Quint, Expo, Circ, Back, Elastic, and Bounce
And there is also the Custom Curves to make your own curve.

Thanks Sean .. it's unfortunate that you can not change fade curve with the fade handle :|
I will try the way you suggested, although limiting but I am not comfortable yet working in the Fusion Page.

I guess this should be a feature request for Resolve 21.

See if you like these settings. It's pretty simple on Edit, and you can save it and set it as default.

My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Unfortunately you can not adjust the fading curve from the Inspector.

Oh wow, the spline editor does work for transitions... I hadn't tried that one yet. That's very nice! :)

You must choose it in top left curve menu.
