Today, I found a solution. I needed to uninstall DaVinci Resolve Studio, and re-install it. Here's the exact procedure I used:
- uninstall DaVinci Resolve using the "uninstall" application. I found it in the DaVinci Resolve folder (in Applications)
- reboot (I needed to reboot to install macOS updates; this step might not be needed but it's what I did)
- install the latest version DaVinci Resolve Studio (downloaded from blackmagicdesign.com)
After that, the DaVinci Control Panels Setup app started working again.
Here's some background about the original situation:
- I downloaded the software from blackmagicdesign.com
- In finder, the file modification date for all apps in the DaVinci Resolve folder were the same
I'm not sure what the problem was.
By the way, my original goal was to connect the speed editor to my mac using Bluetooth. I was able to use the DaVinci Control Panels Setup app to factory reset the speed editor. To factory reset, I plugged in the speed editor using a USB cable. I clicked the factory reset button. Then I unplugged the USB cable. At that point, I was able to pair the speed editor my the mac mini
