Is there a function in the media pool to find out where this offline clip is used?

If you right click the clip you should see a 'Usage' submenu that lists every instance where its used in the active timeline. If you want to check against multiple timelines, nest all timelines into a single master timeline and, with that being the active timeline, check the usage submenu again. It's not ideal but it works.

Many thanks And .. but how to nest all timelines into a single master timeline? That is something new to me.

Simply select all the timelines, right-click and 'Create New Timeline Using Selected Clips'
