Long form projects - single project?

PostSun Apr 27, 2025 3:38 pm

Anyone doing long form narrative as a single project with multiple editors? There is some conveniences that comes from a single project rather than splitting up sections into multiple projects. I remember around Resolve 17 or so I was advised to split the project up.

I use all aspects of Resolve, from edit to fusion to fairlight. I typically do all of my fusion comp work outside of the main timeline, and then use render in place to bring files back into the main edit timeline.

I'm hopeful to test some of these workflows but if anyone can chime in it would be appreciated.

How many users will be active at any given time? In our experience, Resolve’s PostgreSQL database performance is quite poor with large amount of active systems in one project. I would keep the amount in the single digits.
We tried increasing the hardware specs (12 core, 64GB, 10GbE, NVMe, etc). Barely made a difference.
It’s fine if the connected systems are on other projects. In one project you are asking for trouble.

Thanks Dom,

Currently it'll be 3-4 people. We plan to use Cloud databases as we'll have remote users.
